Yes, in my case it came back on two separate vehicles after trying Techron Fuel System cleaner for two rounds. I don't see that as a permanent solution.

Garrett - you may want to change brands of gasoline, just on the oft chance..

I'm heading to a Chevron right now to get some. I will report if it fixes my 2011 S Hybrid fuel gauge warnings as well....

Had this issue on my 11 CTT last year. At first Techron “fixed” it but then the issue came back a few months later and Techron didn’t work this time. I’m told there are two fuel sensors. One of mine was bad I think. My extended warranty covered the repairs.

Replacing the sensors is relatively simple, and is the permanent fix.

Has anyone noticed the fuel gauge fault along with tail light defective faults, random electrical gremlins, and then a battery replacement solved everything?

I get the fuel gauge fault randomly. Then over the past week I have had odd things happening, rough transmission shifts, then yesterday when it was really hot I got the taillight defective warnings for both taillights, I noticed today after letting it sit overnight my battery voltage was at 11.9. I’m wondering if I’m coming up on a battery replacement shortly here. I have a ctek tender that I’ve used since I bought it, but moved it to the other side of the garage for the 986, then just replaced that battery and didn’t get the tender back on the 958.2, and it’s biting me. I just put it on so let’s see what happens, but wondering if I need to start looking for a battery.

Volcano, my 2012 CTT battery lasted 8 years and was still going strong. The only reason I replaced it out of fear.

I remember seeing other posts where people had seemingly random faults and electrical gremlins that were fixed by a battery replacement. It’s possible that’s the issue if you’re having multiple errors.

I replaced by battery out of fear at year 7. I had no issues prior to that. Two treatments of Techron over 3 month period cured the "faulty fuel" error. Hasn't popped up in a year.

I just had that error on my 14 GTS the other day. Happened right after fueling up. I thought it was the fuel cap, so I stopped and checked but it seemed fine. When I restarting the car, fault was gone. Odd. I'll start using Startron like I do on other cars that sit for longer periods of time; should be the same effect as Techron.

I get this about ½ the time when I turn on the car IF the fuel tank is below 50%. Like others have said, it clears right away. So presumably it’s one of the fuel sensors that’s either bad or corroded. Will give Techron a shot and report back.

Thanks, everyone, for sharing the Techtron solution! Pardon my questions, but:
  1. Which size should I opt for: the 12 oz or 20 oz Techtron product?
  2. Also, at what level should the gas tank be? I assume that adding the Techtron when the tank is almost full, the Techtron will blend and stay in the gas tank for more time.
(I drive a 2013 GTS Cayenne, and the Faul Fuel Gauge comes on while idling at a traffic light with the tank at ~3/4 full. The needle shows the correct amount of gas. The car has 139,000 miles. I bought it at 132,000 miles and the fault has been popping up since the 137,000 miles. I always refuel at Chevron (91octane).)
