Tail gate won't open fully

Update with useful info in case someone runs into this: I changed both struts to the updated part 95851285106. So 95851285104 (7P5827851C, 2011 part) isn't interchangeable with 95851285106 so both struts need to be changed. 95851285105 is interchangeable with 95851285106. New struts seem to have a much stronger spring and are substantially quieter.
I can post a how-to on how to change these struts but it doesn't seem like a common problem so probably no need.

following up on this. Did the new struts resolve your issue over the long term? My junker is starting to play this game, so I'm assuming i'm next for this job.

I replaced the rear liftgate motors on my wife's 2011 958 two years ago with the updated versions (95851285106 OEM purchased from Porsche). They are once again having the stop/start problem. Easy enough to replace, but dread spending another $600 when they only last two years.
Going to see if there are any codes later today. Perhaps I may get one of the newer control modules, as some have said that they are set to be less sensitive.
