Completed survey. 2011 CS 47K miles, a replacement under CPO warranty. 59K miles issues again with second TC. Awaiting Porsche if covered. Warranty expired 7 months ago.
Is change fluids to Ravenol always resolve the shudder issue? TIA.

No. Not always, but most of the time and it's awfully inexpensive to try. And it's not changing to a different fluid brand - it's getting clean fluid in the transfer case, Porsche, Ravenol, and one other I've tried all worked equally well. The only difference was price and the Ravenol comes ready to pump into the case right from the bottle.

Survey done. Thanks for shedding light on this. I was lucky and the dealer did not avoid the issue. My 16 /S had only about 10k miles.

I just bought a CPO 2016 Base w/ 27k miles earlier this week and just noticed last night that the upshifts in the lower gears felt weird. It kind of feels like driving over small little bumps or that the car is shifting through extra gears. Sounds like it may be my transfer case. I didnt notice this during my test drive but I wasnt really paying attention too closely. Looks like I'll need to take it in to service and see what they think. I'll update the survey once its figured out.

When my transfer cases went south, the trans always shifted properly.
Mine felt like a serious out of round tire/wheel, or bad wheel bearing. Did make a bit of grinding noise on rear right wheel too.
Hopefully yours is an easy fix. Good luck.

![Question](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
not sure if this is taking into consideration with this survey or even if it matters...
but has there been any significant differences in transfer case issues from those that use vs those that do not use the electric parking brake?
I always take moment to toggle my electric parking brake on/off but aware many do not bother with it...

I am considering purchasing a CPO 2017 Cayenne S E-Hybrid with 45,000 miles and 8 months left on the original warranty before the CPO extra warranty kicks in. I have not read anything about transfer case issues with the hybrids so are they utilizing a different unit or am I just missing something?
Thanks in advance from a Porsche newbie!

Thanks Don, just did the survey. I replaced the TC fluid myself, actually used regular old Valvoline TC Fluid for trucks, thing was instantly smoother than ever since I've owned. I do have the Ravenol fluid on hand but I think I'll just change the fluid using the 10$ Valvoline stuff every other oil change. That is IF this car survives the current electrical gremlins

This may be a mute question, but who is the manufacturer of the TC,s? I ask this because we are about to purchase a Cayenne TDI (read report/blog, they seem to be low in failure), but we went thru a very similar problem with a Mercedes GL (@80k), MB said that it was normal at that milage (WHAT?)with no resolution it went to CarMax.., I believe that the TC was produce by ZF.
