Cayenne GTS or Macan Turbo

Cayenne GTS or Macan Turbo
Hi. I own a Macan Turbo but I am considering swapping it for a certified 2016 Cayenne GTS with about the same miles on it. I have always had sedans and never an SUV, so the Macan was the compromise. But with a family of four I could use more room and am trying to figure out if the Cayenne GTS is just too heavy/trucklike/hard to park/etc that I would regret exchanging it for my Macan Turbo. All advise and input welcome! Jon

The Cayenne is the smallest SUV I would ever consider. It is shorter and narrower than some cars I have owned. It does not even hold 2 adults and a child comfortably in the back seat. No one would ever describe a 958 as heavy, truck like, or hard to park unless they have never driven a real SUV or truck.

You are correct! I have never owned an SUV or a truck, so that’s why I was asking about it, what you all thought of the Cayenne GTS and how it compares favorably or unfavorably to the Macan Turbo. Thanks for replying!

It feels like a more substantial Macan. You will not find another SUV that handles better. Cameras and sensors go a long way towards making parking a snap. Just go test drive it and see if you like it.

Cayenne gts vs macan turbo
Hi I own a macan turbo and am considering trading it for a 2016 cayenne gts with about the same mileage. Love my car and it is my first Porsche but have a family of four and am thinking about the need for more space. Never had a full sized suv and wondering how the gts compares as a daily commuter etc. don’t want to trade and then be disappointed. Would love any feedback and views on gts, gts va macan turbo, etc. thanks!

I had a Macan to run around in while my Cayenne went in for the variocam bolt recall - actually really impressed! Liked it (except white, not in white - sorry for those owners of white Macans). But the differences were dramatic. The Macan is MUCH smaller inside and I struggled to get a good seating position that didnt feel a little cramped. Looks familiar and feels very similar at sedate pace. But what is clear is that the Macan is setup for a much more sporty drive. I think you are comparing the right ones though. I have an S which is soft and wallowy in comparison to the Macan I drove! The GTS is a lot stiffer. But that quick fire PDK, sportier driving dynamics and smaller overall size makes a difference. If you want more space in the back (the Cayenne 958 and later is positively spacious) and a little more practicality (the trunk / boot is much bigger in the Cayenne) then great. But I would suggest the Macan is much more involving to drive and it might seem a bit of a let down coming from a Macan Turbo!

Thanks. Very helpful. I do want more space inside and in the trunk but am very worried about the drivIng difference and if the cayenne, even the gts, will be a letdown from the macan turbo.

Also heard that there is real turbo lag with the gts, which I don’t have in the macan. And the gts can be loud even with the sports exhaust off. No clue if true but wondering if anyone just loves their gts.
