Got CEL P2404. Truck seems to run fine.
I hooked up the OBD because my CEL had come on. It showed a code of P2404. The truck seems to be running fine though. What do I need to do to remedy this? I am a DIY.....to a certain extent. :-) Thanks, all!

Did you clear to see if it returns? If it does replacing the gas cap would be a basic first step.

I just reset the CEL on Sunday. Drove about 40 miles (20 miles each way) to an amusement park. Didn't come back on then. I usually only drive the truck fri - sun. I will see if it comes back on this weekend. Also, where do you purchase the gas cap from at a decent price? Thanks!

The code would pop and then after 7-10 days would disappear and then randomly pop again. Finally had the indy just replace the thermostat switch and problem solved. Might want to have the pump and thermostat done while replacing.

Look for OEM, I purchased one on e bay, Amazon sells them as well
It could be more involved requiring shop diagnostics, but the cap you can replace in 5 min. at a cost of $20-30 bucks.

This P2404 has resurfaced.
Measuring the vacuum at the exhaust flapper, it was 10". Attaching an external vacuum pump to the same line and pumping to 10", engine oil started to seep back to the external pump.
I suspect the engine mounted vacuum pump has a defective seal.
Does anyone know the vacuum spec? Searched online but cannot find a spec for this pump.

Woah!!! I am sooooo late. I just happened to come across this page and found I never gave any results. Well, I changed the vacuum pump and the P2404 code never returned. :-)

Got a CEL this morning, pulled code 2404 - Evap. system leak detection pump sense circuit range/performance. I haven't checked mine out yet but I'm curious if you found oil in the line - this CEL followed a top off of the engine oil for me.

Sorry, just wanted to see if the threat starter noticed oil in the pump line or not as I intend to do the pump replacement myself (seems to be the concensus on repair) - I’m in an 08’ 957 Turbo
