04 CTT Entry and drive question
I had been driving CTT with plastic key for the past one year or so.
Yesterday, two things stopped working:
1) can't start the car with plastic key anymore. But, regular key works fine. I read in some of the threads that it might be the secondary battery on the car.
2) can't lock or unlock the door by touching the buttons on any of the door handles. But locking and unlocking using button on the key works.
Don't think #2 is a Kessy issue and instead both #1 and #2 are related. Going to look at the vehicle battery today to start with.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks

Absolutely sounds like the kessy module has failed. There are guides floating around on fixing it DIY, if you can handle a soldering iron. Access to a durimetric or piwis system can tell you for sure. (module will not respond)
Of course checking the batteries is much quicker and easier but battery issues usually present in a flakey fashion, not a sudden and seemingly permanent failure.

The part of the KESSY that fails is what controls the antennas for the door handles and interior/exterior sensors for the dummy key, etc.
Do a search, there has been many good articles

Concur, I've had my KESSY unit fail. Key will still function as a remote, but door handles, buttons, and plastic key will no longer work. I bought the replacement parts from Digi-Key based on what was recommended on this forum for the repair (two-mosfets, and a bunch of identical small resistors). I bought a "better" $50 soldering system off amazon. The fix wasn't too hard. That said, I've been soldering things for years, but never had touched electronic circuit boards.
