Default washer fluid leak

when I add half a jug or more of washer fluid to the reservoir I have a puddle near the passenger front wheel overnight.

If the reservoir is cracked and has to be replaced anyone out there done the project?

If you're leaking when you top up the reservoir (it's not empty), it's likely the filler neck-reservoir connection. It's just a pressed connection. Pull the beauty cover off on that side, grab the filler neck, and press it rearwards firmly to re-seat it. If you're leaking out coolant when your reservoir is empty (with a warning light), then you likely have a leak in the reservoir or at one of the connections coming out of the reservoir.

The article is for a 955, but it'll be the exact same for your 2009 957

Reminds me of the time I once used summer w/w fluid in the 928; thinking that I didn't need the blue stuff since I never took it out during winter months.

One winter, had it move it out of the garage to work on my DD....guess what happened?

I had a leak at the passenger side wheel that only leaked when the headlight washers actuated. Behind the wheel and underneath the fender liner is a connection and pump that feeds the headlight washers.

Beyond that what others have told you is accurate. The filler neck press fits into the top of the reservoir. The reservoir has pumps press fit into it. One for the front windscreen sprayer and one for the rear.

Do a little more experimentation to see when it leaks. Refill and check for leaks. If you want to investigate further, pull the wheel and then the fender liner. Then enjoy the process of reinstalling the fender liner...

it only leaks when washer fluid has been added and it sits for a while as if theres a slow seep/leak from the reservoir......theres no coolant loss thankfully.

I'll try to reseat the neck.......thx.

It's a little unusual for washer fluid reservoirs to crack and leak because they're not exposed to heat and pressure in the same way a coolant expansion tank is.

That said, anything is possible. The simplest check you can do is to pull off the trim piece that covers the windshield filler area and push the filler neck into the grommet on the tank. Do this by pushing it aft to the rear of the car. Not too hard, just snug. If you're lucky you're only leaking out fluid when the reservoir is filled to the max and it is leaking through the grommet (which is located at the very top of the tank). If that's the case push it snug and it's a non issue.

I meant to say washer fluid. Mine still leaks if I try and top it up. It's like the last 10% of volume, or something. If it leaks out a bit after filling, but stops after awhile, and you still have plenty left (light isn't on), it's likely the filler neck.

Mine leaks - When I got my 08 CTT the warning light was on so I filed it up, man they hold a lot. Hours latter I noticed a big puddle under the passengers side so I cleaned it up, hours latter the same thing, then again the next AM.

I'm guessing I have a cracked reservoir or lower fitting ?
