Unable to fill her up

Burning Brakes
The fill pipe ID is sufficiently larger than the OD of tube on the fill valve to allow air to escape unimpeded when the fill cap is off; especially if the fill flow rate is kept low. I suspect fill blockage. I don't think a tank vent problem would manifest itself with the cap off.

What I said before and what DWC just said. The Blockage is in the fill pipe. If you can't see it at the top it is most likely down right where it joins the tank. With it well vented, an inspection camera might work, the Snapon unit I have say's it is fine for flamable environments and long enough to just make it to the Fuel Tank. There is the chance that some kind of blockage (object) started at the top and the fueling has pushed it lower in the fuel filler pipe.

I have had this problem come up randomly myself, just not quite as bad. I could only fill the tank up perhaps 3/4 and the pump would shut off. What I ended up doing his hold the 1 way valve in the fill neck open with the nozzle until trapped air escapes for the tank. Not sure why this occurs. Probably something to do with outside temperature changes. ??
It's happened to me, to a lesser degree, in the past, with different modern cars.

One thing also to consider is when was the last time it was full and or run close to empty during the fuel pump change out. I just did mine and have to go back in because a hose inside must be blocking my float from coming all the way up because I had 1/2 tank when changed then went to station and put like 14 gallons in and then needle only goes to 3/4 full. Maybe your left side float is stuck showing u only have 1/8 of a tank etc when the tank is 100% full.

Miss those days. She is 19 now. Can't fault them when they're that young- pretty adorable. Best moment ever for me is when VCR's was still around my daughter stuck a slice of pizza inside VCR slot and said "OVEN". Anyway hope your issue is resolved. Mike

This is actually a fairly common problem with a saturated charcoal canister. Vapors from the fuel in the canister prevent proper ventilation at the filler neck. The canister is in the right rear wheel well, behind the fender liner. There, you'll also be able to check the vent tubes for blockage.

An Audi tech once told me not to top off the tank after the pump shuts off the first time. I don't remember his reasoning, I just stopped doing it, but maybe it has something to do with inadvertently saturating the charcoal canister. ??
