Default Considering 04-06 CTT Purchase

Just starting the process on this. Been looking here for a comprehensive list of what to be concerned about and what the standard, optional and year to year changes in features were.

As I'm sure guys here know these threads far better than I can figure out in an afternoon, if folks will post links to the various threads that cover these issues/topics I will put together a comprehensive "buyers guide" for all.

Thx in advance for the help. the early CTT's are really looking like a high value used car deal (except of course for the fuel mileage!)

I cant help you much with info, but there is one for sale local to me. Its an 96 TTS. Most records, all updates done and a few goodies. I have gone back and forth with the owner, he is military and will be deploying again soon. Anyway, heres a link.

Early TTs are great value at the moment.

Nice looking Brown & Tan!

TT's are great and reliable rigs (drivetrain minus a couple of items, original cooling pipes and driveline). Highly recommend a '06 due to the bugs being mostly worked out of the electronics and the newer PCM (2.1) over the '04's (2.0).

I think your biggest problem would be running into stuff with one not as easy to repair as a 951

From what I've read here and elsewhere I'm under the impression the PCM2.1 can be retro fitted to an 04/05 CTT. Have I misunderstood this?

IIRC - the PCM2 navigation is CD based. The PCM2.1 is DVD based, so it's not only the "head" that needs replacing. It's the NAV player under the passenger seat also. And mebbe a wiring harness.
