Default Fuel Pumps - CEL Codes P2404, P1026, P2181?

Hello,
my wife's 2008 Cayenne S, 96'tsd Miles, throw a CEL yesterday. I read it out today and I have the codes 2404, 1026, and 2182. The car is really hard to start and I already suspect that the fuel pumps are on their way out. Would the error codes be in line with fuel pump problems?

Anyone had this error before? Especially with a fuel pump which went bad shortly after the CEL came on?

I just checked the fuel pump fuses, if I pull fuse 14 the CS idles for a few more seconds and then dies. Looks to me like the secondary pump is dead, or? Getting ready to order from Pelican Parts, so far I have:
2 Fuel Line Connectors - 955-620-911-00
2 Sealing Rings, for Fuel Pump - 955-201-133-01
1 Fuel Pump, Right - 955-620-932-01
1 Fuel Pump, Left - 955-620-931-01
Anything missing? Does the 2008 CS have a fuel filter, I can't find one at Pelican Parts, only up to 2006.

Fault P1026
Not listed in my books, however have seen posts that correlate it with the high pressure fuel pump that the DFI engines have.

Fault P2181
Thermostat Blocked - Implausible
Diagnosis conditions
• Engine running
• Engine starting temperature between -10 °C and 40 °C
• Ambient temperature between -10 °C and 40 °C
• No fault in vehicle speed
• Engine temperature increase after start to over 60 °C, calcu- lated via air mass throughput
Possible fault cause
♦ Thermostat blocked open
♦ Faulty engine temperature sensor

Fault 2404
Evaporative Emission System Leak Detection Pump Sense Circuit Range/Performance
Diagnostic conditions
• Battery positive voltage between 10 V and 16 V
• In the time that elapses between stopping and restarting engine,
engine must cool down by at least 42 K.
• Short journey with partial load share (3km/h ... 150 km/h)
• Intake air temperature between 5 °C and 95 °C
• Engine temperature higher than 5 °C
• Diagnosis doesn't run at altitudes higher than 2,400 m above sea level
• No P0441 (Evaporative Emission System Incorrect Purge Flow) or P0446 (Evaporative Emission System Vent Control Circuit) faults in memory
• No active charcoal filter shutoff valve, leakage diagnosis pump or EVAP canister purge valve output stage faults in memory
Possible cause of fault
♦ Insufficient vacuum (system has a leak or blockage)
♦ Short circuit to B+ in signal line
♦ Leakage diagnosis pump faulty (diaphragm or reed switch sticks, internal solenoid valve stays closed or is blocked)
♦ DME control module faulty

Thanks for the information. Would it be possible to run onto these faults with a broken secondary fuel pump? As mentioned when I pull fuse 14 the car runs for a few seconds and then shuts off. Also very had to start, just like it has to build up the fuel pressure.

Update, changed the fuel pumps, car runs a bit better but still hard to start. I read that the 2008 S had a problem with the High Pressure Fuel Pump and that there is a TSB out from Porsche to replace them. Symptoms are the same I see with our car.
Question: If Porsche has a TSB out would that cover my car even with more than 90,000 Miles and out of warranty?

TSB - technical service bulletin not a recall so they might do it out of good will....after warranty is done.

I wonder if Porsche is going to ext and warranty like BMW did on hpfp

My hpfp pump is on its way too , part for 2011 CS is about 700$

Did you change the fuel filter in the gas tank?

It was known as a "workshop campaign" over here. I had mine changed on the GTS at the dealer in Dubai just after I bought it while still under warranty. I took the car into the other dealer in Abu Dhabi for a service jus before I sold it, 2 years out of warranty. The previous change did not show up on the integrated service records and they told me that they had to change it FOC. The same apparently does not apply to the DFI turbo; different pump apparently.

Yes, a workshop campaign is something they will do for free if the car comes in, but they are not required to actively seek out owners to get it done. A recall requires a notice sent to the owners of the affected vehicles. A TSB is an update that is only done for free during the warranty period. I believe mcbit is right that it is a workshop campaign, so it would be done for free if you brought it to the dealer *provided that it hasn't already been done*. If it has been done, you could still get it fixed for free if the campaign was done less than two years ago.

I checked with Barrier here in Bellevue and the car was not in so far for having the HPFP replaced, car will go in on Monday and it will get changed. Will report back whether that will solve the problem.

To update the thread, High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) got changed at no cost for me, car runs now perfect, no CEL, and starts immediately.
