Was looking into getting either a 06 Turbo, or 08 S for a run around town/weekend toy hauler. I have driven a 04 turbo, and S a couple of years back. I remember the turbo being noticeably more powerful, but the S was still plenty of fun especially for my use. Those cars were both 04's though. I have heard that 08 and newer drive much better. The looks of the 08, or the power of the 06 T? I know the quality and reliability seemed to get better for every year newer. I used to be a euro car tech so any potential reliability issues that pop up with either, im not paying labor so no big deal if coolant pipes go, drive shafts etc. It is getting harder to find a 06 without too many miles though, but should I worry about mileage on one of these? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I wish the 957 turbo was more in budget, i'm guessing that would be a rocket, but I can't justify that sort of money for something i'm going to use as a sort of truck, throw the dogs in the back of, etc.

There is no Turbo 06. The 996 Turbo ended in 2005. The 997 Turbo started in 07. If you are comparing the 997 Turbo to a 997 911S, well there is no comparison. The Turbo is more of everything. I owned a 997 911S and while a great car is not in the same league as the Turbo. The Turbo becomes a direct connection between car and driver, Instantly responsive and blazingly fast.

There is no reason why the the 08 would drive "much better" because the 957 is a euphemism for a facelifted 955. They are largely the same vehicle with mostly cosmetic differences. I vote turbo as well. Also the 955 turbo is only down 50hp from the 957 turbo.. they are both rockets.

Heh, NOBODY with A CTTS!. And frankly anyone with a TT can get a tune. I say 955TT's are the best bang for buck in Porsche Land period.
