No, the Pioneer AVIC 140BH (now 150BH) is a direct 911 replacement that fits very nicely into my center stack, but I would also check to see if it fits a Cayenne (my guess is yes). I retained my OEM speakers and amp, and added a 7" color touchscreen display, Bluetooth (synchs with my Samsung 4G), MP3, DVD, Pandora, Sirius/XM (separate kit required but part of my final cost), iPod, back-up camera (separate kit required but part of my final cost) , front parking sensors (separate kit required but part of my final cost), GPS based Nav, single CD, AM/FM, traffic alerts and voice recognition. IMO and according to my installer (Hurley's in Tyson Corner, VA) it's the best unit on the market today. Please keep in mind this was installed in an 07 997 TT with preexisting fiber optics. Total professional install time was 3/4 day.

Not bad for $2k out of the door IMO, especially since you've got backup camera and front sensors included in the price. Dension unit with installation and updated nav disk will probably cost around $1.5k give or take...

The dearth of info on the subject for Cayennes indicates to me that the options are few and costly. Of the hundreds of posters hardly a handful have replaced the PCM.

Just says that people in general don't think PCM is really all that bad. To be honest, while not the easiest to use, I don't mind putting up with it. My main problem is lack of bluetooth and being stuck with CDs for music on my car. I think I'll call bumper plugs guys and see what they say - seems to be the cheapest option to go with and this option is rather popular with 911/987 people.

The Mobridge will give you Bluetooth and all the music you could want from your Iphone or other phone etc... I still have the 2.1 with the latest software/maps and the Mobridge and occasionally I want something newer with streaming stocks, news, etc... (OEM Sat in 2.1 doesn't do this).

Yep...for around $700 plus instln...as much as a midmarket major brand nav head unit with BT, aux, USB/SD, etc. and cheap or free map upgrades.

I did the Dension conversion (with BT) and would do it again. It works just fine for me..

I've been doing some searching over the last few weeks and haven't seen a headunit replacement solution that comes with all these options for that price. Certainly not for brands like Alpine, Pioneer, and the like, at least. Perhaps the closest I've seen come to that price are the made-in-China units you can purchase from eBay. So unless you're handling the install yourself and/or are prepared to not have warranty coverage (by purchasing from a non-authorized reseller), I've been seeing a cost of about high $2k to $3k.

Would appreciate it if you can specify some of these other head units that you are talking about so I can look into them. Thanks in advance!
