Default Not feeling tight

I was in my friends 2004 CTT with 70000 mi. His feels tighter than mine with 110000 miles. I had a look at my lower control arm bushings and could not see any obvious damage. Even though there seems to be no visual damage I am thinking that mine are just worn out causing the looser feeling. What says 6speed? Also what other bushing might I look at replacing that would wear with mileage?

Maybe ask 6speed?

I replaced the bushings in my Ford Explorer with some super polymer something or others and it made a significant difference in the tight / crisp sense. So to me your idea makes sense. Probably it'll make a difference at 70k miles even if this isn't the only issue.

I just replaced control arm bushings last week. Honestly they weren't that bad. My CTT has 102K on it. The bushings had a few cracks, and the hydraulic ones had no oil left in them (the oil is to dampen vibrations and not to add 'tightness'). But the overall condition of the rubber was very good. Pliability I'm sure was decreased after 10 years and 102K, but they were in far better condition (due to there design) than other cars that I've replaced control arm bushings in.

If I had it to do over again, I'd still replace them, but they hadn't failed by any stretch.

As ridiculous as this may sound, what condition are your tires in; as compared to those of your friend's? Unevenly worn tires can simulate road slop.

If you upgrade yours, don't forget to get Turbo S lower control arms.

It is not really road slop I am feeling, more when going over bumps. I have no clunk, but it does not feel as solid. His car has a more muffled sound going over bumps than mine.

Definitely would get the turbo S control arms.

What I really wanted to say after your title was, "This is typical after pregnancy."

Tire sidewall behavior can make a big difference in feel. Also do you have the same wheel size?

Tires are everything. I once had a set of Dunlops on a 1998 A4 that transformed the car from a comfortable ride and reasonable handling to a car that was floaty, harsh, and handled like total crap.

And lets not forget variables such .. wear and tear, how they were installed, , road condition, mags.. Oh yes.. maintenance and how **** the driver is to notice the slightest difference in tightness.

I was told years ago to get myself "blessed" @ church, for I was too **** when it came to the cars I drove.. I did something better.. had kids.. now I don't feel a single slightest hump or crackling noise. I don't even bother with the flashing lights..

does the steering wheel shake?

bushings sounds logical given the weight of this car.

I have a little vibration in the wheel at 70+ mph. It happens with my 20" P Zero's as well as my 20" Blizzaks.
My friend has 20" Continental DWS. Much newer than mine. I would say my P Zeros are on their last season. have the original control arms so I think I may just get the CTTS version and see what happens. I haven't recently given birth so a no go there. and my wife hasn't had any kids so ... ).
