Common Cayenne issues
Hello folks, excuse the intrusion from the 993 section
My brother is considering a 2006 Cayenne S Titanium edition. Common issues/things to look for? We are on opposite coasts so this is about the best I can help him. He is a 911 owner, and has owned a 944 Turbo in the past but he doesn't really keep up on cars as far as forums, etc. so he has a limited knowledge base.
Thanks in advance.
Tony

Thanks lupo. I scrolled through that, many responses weren't specific to that model (2006 S). I did see 1 horn, 1 tail light module, and one post with a long list. Nothing jumped out (without going through every single post) of what would appear common. I'm looking for common stuff, like on 993's, the DME and SAI that are a very common and high occurrence rate across many samples.
I'm not familiar with the Cayenne line and versions so don't know the generations, i.e. year ranges to try and find those commonalities.

Thanks for the clarification. When I looked, I saw it was about coolant pipes and passed it right over, but it is specific to the S's. Thanks again, I'll let him know.

The Cayenne V8 issues apply to the S, the turbo and the turbo S. They are pretty much the same for 2003 - 2006.
The short list includes:
- Ignition coils (should have been replaced as they were recalled by PCNA)
- Cardan shaft
- Horn(s)
- Fuel pump(s)
- Water pump
- Cabin climate control fan
- Rear window washer nozzle
- Air suspension compressor pump needing to be rebuilt
- Coolant pipes (make sure to buy one that has the upgraded metal pipes)
There are more, but these are the main issues. If you find one that has had these issues addressed, then they are quite reliable.

I read more on the coolant pipe issue, wow! At least now he has a heads up and will specifically check on those. Thanks much gents. Thank you Dennis, a short and to the point list.
You Cayenne folks aren't as bad as they make you out to be on the other sections. J/K

I bought a 04 CTT knowing that the coolant pipe were replaced. Several things were replaced during my 2 years ownership.
- Cabin climate control fan motor
- Secondary air pumps and valves
- fuel tank expansion valve
- rear trunk lifts
- front hood lift
- Headlight socket lose
Current problems:
- parking brake lift
- transmission module (hard shifts)
- small leak from turbo charge pipe.
- Display on center gauge faded
Car has 122k miles, and still running strong.

No worries! I know coolant pipes are something foreign in the world of air-cooled cars!

We should reopen the ATTENTION : IF YOU'RE THINKING OF BUYING A 955 READ THIS BEFORE YOU ASK YOUR QUESTION thread and add Dennis' post to it for a little clarification.
