Question about accelerator travel/stop
Ok, possibly a dumb questions here, but ill ask anyway. When i mash the pedal to the floor i detect what feels like a stop at the bottom, but then can actually push the pedal another inch or two. That last inch or two feeling like its a little springy/spongy for lack of a better way of describing it. Ive never driven an auto before, so maybe all autos have this. ive never felt it on any of my previous manuals.
does this make sense?

That's kickdown. Just past wide open throttle, kickdown will cause the transmission to downshift (if possible) for more aggressive acceleration. A pressure spring is used in the pedal assembly so that you can feel where kickdown is.

Hey Tim,
Just curious. I grew up in Parma, and my brother had a house in Medina. I have never seen another Porsche at any time when I go back to visit.
Where did you get the avatar pic?
Oh, Go Browns!!!! Woof, woof, woof!

I've seen a few here, but the avatar pic was taken at the Porsche dealer in Anchorage, AK when I worked there a couple of years ago.

I grew up in Middleburg Heights. I see plenty of Porsches when I am home, although the last time it was because I visited Porsche of Beachwood, and also had a track event at Nelson Ledges, so maybe I just load up a bit when I'm there. Had a great time with Northern Ohio Region PCA at a fun rally last year, and am fairly regular at the Stoddard Swap Meet.
Oh, and yes, just stick your foot in it. It is the "stop" before the kick-down.

You guys are making me homesick. My girlfriend lived in MH and there was a sports bar near I-71 in MH that made some really good tacos. We'd go to Beachwood for restaurants on the weekend.
My brother lives in North Royalton, and most of my friends live in Parma/Parma Hts. I also go to the West Side Market every time I return a couple times a year. So it's I-71, 77, 80 and 480/271 and environs for me.
I always wanted to go to mid-Ohio, but never made it. All of my Ohio friends want to hunt, fish, and golf, but none want to drive.

Always, my very first stop when I get home is Merties on W. 150th in Brookpark at the tracks (where the road becomes Smith Rd in Middleburg Hts.). I always order a minimum of 4 fresh strudels.- mostly apple. Merties is on my quick dial, and I call a day or two ahead to make certain she gets my order before I arrive). She always recognizes my name and number (How many calls does she get from Florida? LOL!).
I keep two apple strudels for my personal stash, and share the others (mostly - LOL!) as guest gifts.
Oh, and did I already say to stick your foot into the gas for the kick-down? I don't want to be accused derailing the OPs thread.

Yeah, stomp on the gas pedal and the car takes off, blah, blah, blah.
My first stop is always Antonio's Pizza at Parmatown. My best friend got his first job there when they opened, and Drew Carey has had them deliver a few dozen pizzas to LA for the cast and crew.
My second stop, the next morning, is West Side Market. Great memories. My next stop will be Mertie's. ummmm, apple strudle.
