Once the $300 barrier has been bested for a brand new one, I suspect the rebuild prices are going to come down too. These are cheap enough that I might just buy one and put it away in the garage for the day mine fails..

So is the driveshaft called the cardan shaft?

Yes, he's talking about the same thing. The small shafts going to each wheel are usually called the "Half Shafts".

Well, that's good news. We replaced the center bearing support last week on mine and it doesn't seem like it's working out (it's still throwing grease). $300 is better than $400, which is better than whatever Porsche wants for them. However, it would be even nicer if Vertex was charging something reasonable ($100? $150?) for their bolt-in version. $500 is an a$$ rape (no lube)...

Want to make a bet on how much content in new Porsches comes from China? And how many aftermarket auto parts do? Some stuff is crap, some is surprisingly good quality.
