2004 Cayenne S - "Check Trailer Lights" Warning
Ok, an update on my trailer lights issue...
2 x trailers (one is a horse float) work fine on other cars, so lets consider trailers are OK, none of them have LED lights.
Previously when I plugged the horse float into the Cayenne nothing worked and I got the "Check Trailer Lights" message on the dash.
A bit of cable tracing determined that the wiring loom was correct and output was on the correct pins and that the tow module was installed to the side of the CD changer.
After a quick trip to the dealer it was confirmed that the tow module had been enabled / car did recognise that the tow pack was installed.
I decided to change the trailer plug on the car because it seemed a bit slack when I pushed in the trailer socket. Voila, all lights now work... But I still get the "Check Trailer Lights" message on the dash???
The trailer turn indicator on the speedo works when the blinkers are active.
Any ideas what maybe causing this error message? I can live with it but it is a bit annoying.
Thanks
Jon

I have a treg and I believe they use the same module. I had the same issue when I first bought it. To satisfy my thinking my trailer was fine and the Treg was screwed, I built a little light set up that just had two two filament light bulbs. Lo and behold the message went away.
When does the message happen? When you turn on the lights? When you hit the brakes?
I believe it only checks the brake lights and running lights.

How are your headlights working? Have any flashlights and racers tape?

I'm wondering I it maybe an impedance issue, possibly bad/weak earth?
Thx

Do a search- we beat this to death back in the mid 2000's- had the same issue with my '04.... many of us "early" pig owners led the crusade on this... please don't let Lewis found out about this thread...
