My brother in law has a 2004 CTT - you would exepct the 1st year to have more issues than most - especially the first year ever built. I drove it last week and it had 198,800 miles on it. Everything still works with just normal maintenance. He will need some major motor work soon, as it is down on power and the coolant light comes on pretty regularly since 190,000. He paid a lot for it new but feels like he has gotten his money's worth.
My business partner bought a 2008 GTS and it was a lemmon - he had nothing but issues, PCM failed 3 times in 11,000 miles along with other electrical issues. It just was never right. Dealer took it back and put him into another one and he drove it for 4 years with no problems outside of normal maintenance.
That is why I am often gun shy of buying used. If you get a good one no worries.
Same holds true for the X5 - my wife had 4 (2001, 2005, 2008 & 2010). Number 1 and 2 had no issues. #3 was leased (thank goodness) and in 65k miles over 27 months it had 29 visits to the dealer (2008 4.8). All issues were electrical - ECU was reprogrammed 15 times in 27 months. BMW took it back and put her into a new one (2010 5.0) and she had no problems over 62,000 miles driven in 24 months. Got to love kids travel hockey and baseball to rack up the miles. Due to the need for more room now she has Sequoia.
Hope your Cayenne gets serviced and provides you with some fun instead of issues in the future.
