Full leather and sunshine
I am finalizing my build for a CS and I am considering black full leather, but I am concerned that since it will be parked outside on a regular basis with quite a bit of full sunshine, the leather dashboard may not hold up as well as the standard interior. Should this be a concern? Mike

We bought our 01 996 with the full leather option which included covering the dash. It has never known a garage, cover, and only had minor trysts with sun shades. The dash had bubbled which seems to be common in the 996 (and it's happened to garage queens too), but I noticed last week it seems to have stretched itself back out for the most part...
I wouldn't say we abuse the interior, but we certainly haven't done any significant work to maintain it. Other than the dash bubble and a spot in the rear seat where I left a dive regulator for a few hours (didn't stain, just left an impression that won't go away) it's interior is in great shape for a 13 year old car that hasn't been pampered.
Based on what I've seen of the materials in the 958 and our history with the 996 I think you should be fine. The full leather got cut from my build due to other option choices, otherwise I had no concerns about putting it in mine where it would see similar "abuse" as the 911.
Note that we are right outside DC, so we are in a mostly similar climate to you.

First of all you could solve this by getting a uv film put on your windows. Secondly I have a 2004 cayenne with dark green full leather and it still looks new. I just keep the leather conditioned with zymol so it doesn't ever dry out. Porsche uses really high quality leather. But honestly just keep your leather protected with the right products and it will tolerate years and years of exposure.

Get the full leather. Porsche treats the leather to hold up to sun exposure in this application. You won't regret it.
