Update: Thanks for all the responses and support. Replaced the blower and resistor at the same time. The blower was definitely shot. Didn't bother testing the old resistor. Works like a champ now. Thanks again everyone.

Default Fan works sporadically

Not sure I have a blower motor issue. It seems lately I'll either get no fan or some fan speed on start up. I press the A/C Max, defroster buttons and nothing happens or sometimes on restart I'll get some fan speed. Also when it is working it seems when I adjust fan speed it doesn't change with each push..it remains on same speed throughout. This is on a 2012 Cayenne S. Any ideas?

POINTERS: No need to completely remove the glovebox or disconnect the electric wires and hoses connected to the glove box, I was able to just push the glovebox to the left, out of the way, placing plastic container below it so it doesn't hang. Also, when inserting the new unit, slide it from the bottom upwards to get it in place, make sure it lines up nicely, or your seven screws will not want to comply :-)

Wanted to to some wrenching today, being the 4th of July (happy birthday America) so I ordered the new blower fan as I get sometimes little chirping noise when the fan is in low speed (two bars), usually goes away after while or instantly when I change the speed of the fan.

Order the eBay one for $53 (126 sold, not one negative review) , don't waist your time and money. It is pretty noisy in comparison to the original one. The Porsche one is completely silent, swapped it back and will return it, not a complete loss, at least I learned how to do it. My original is still fine, I will get back to it when time comes.

My blower start making weird noises a couple months ago. AC would work only in cooler days. Last month it stopped working all together. I did my research on this awesome forum and today I changed the blower and regulator. Success!!! The Stealership wanted $1200 but I ordered parts from Pelican for $250 and crushed it myself!

I replaced with the cheapie $100 knockoff from eBay and have had the motor slow way down a couple of times. Wouldn't do it a second time. Get the genuine porshe replacement.

Any chance you have a part number? I'm getting noise from the cheap one I used and am at a point where I'm willing to suck it up and pay to have it replaced a second time.

Sorry - no I don't - but a look on some VW parts sites for one for the same year Tourag would likely be productive. Perhaps someone who has purchased one might be able to give us the PN..

I can certainly grab the part number on a similar year toureg, was in fact going that route when I decided to drop you a note. I'd certainly love to hear from someone who's done exactly that to be sure. Thanks.

7L0 820 021 Q
Q is the latest revision, AFAIK.
When my OEM one started making noise, I lubricated the top bearing and it's been quiet for 4 month so far. However, the brushes wear on the motor, too, and they wear out the shaft, so these fans certainly don't last forever either way.

Update to a great thread...

My '09 Cayenne Turbo blower made the usual noises of about to give up the ghost with limited air flow tot he cabin last weekend.

Ordered a replacement off eBay for a US Grant shipped to my doorstep. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-AC-Heat....c100505.m3226

20 minute job start to finish.

YMMV-
