Default Whats going on here ? 04 turbo question!

Good morning fellas!

So i have noticed something strange on my 04 turbo. It seems when I put the truck in drive it automatically goes into manual mode. If i put it in the park and pump the brake a few times it goes back into auto mode. As i am driving it will automatically go back into manual mode and there is no way to shift out of it except to pull over and put it in park and back in drive. My "brake booster faulty" code is on so I am wondering if this has something to do with it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

There are magnets in the shift lever that become loose which can cause the manual shifting issue you describe.

The brake booster fault is also common.
It is a cracked vacuum line under the booster.

Search the forum for more.

Is the magnet inside the shift ****? if thats the case I do not have a shift **** on the car currently. I am awaiting finalizing a transaction for one from a fellow board member.

AS far as the brake booster. Yes its a cracked vacuum line. The line that is cracked is the one running from the firewall. If i repair this line will i need to reset the code or should the brake booster code go away on its own?

Thanks buzuki!

No the magnets are under the aluminum plate where the shifter slides I believe. Must be annoying when it gets stuck in second and you are doing 6500 Rpms and making a racket.

Yes the fault will reset itself. Just drive it a bit after repair.
