Turbo S, Turbo or GTS for DD
Greetings. Seeking your advice and opinions on a Cayenne to be used as a daily driver. My budget is in the range of $65-75K and I have narrowed the choices to a Turbo S, Turbo and GTS. I will put on about 14,000 miles/year.
I am leaning towards the Turbo S but want to make sure that the "Siren's song" and allure of the Turbo S isn't clouding my thinking on this.
As always, greatly appreciate your thoughts and insight!

gts looks and drives great but is a bit slower. The turbo can be chipped. The turbo s is awesome but has $3k brakes. So for someone using it as a dd budget accordingly. I think a 2008-09 turbo is a lot of car for the money. Be sure to find one with PDCC. Remember there are so many options and checkboxes when building a new porsche that each used one will have varying levels of kit.

Agree the CTS is a bit slower (but not a lot) but, handling and ride are equal to the CTT's. My concern for a DD is the upkeep cost/s to maintain and drive a turbo vs. a non-turbo and as you mention, the CTT brakes.
I believe all 08 and newer CTT's are equipped with standard PDCC.

So 4ocious are you trading in the ml550 for a GTS?
In response to your post though.. I think only the CTT-S has the expensive brakes.. I believe the turbo has the same stoppers as the CS.
These dont seem to have the little PDCC label on the selector... not sure it is standard. All the ones with PDCC seem to be metal too and the ones that appear without it are black like 955's.

We decided on a GTS order. Price was a factor to a certain extent.
However, I like the sound and throttle response of the GTS and it is plenty fast enough for me. Although Porsche's turbocharged cars have always been stellar, I have always liked the normally aspirated "feel" the most.

I've had it only about a day, but I went for the TTS as a dd. I drove it a few hundred miles in my first day of ownership (driving it home, basically) and think it is pretty spectacular so far!
As part of the decision making process I drove (and towed) with my friend's GTS. He basically steered me to at least a turbo. I don't know if I would call it regret, but he did say a few times, "I wish there had been a turbo that I could find when I was looking..."

Many thanks for everyone's thoughts on this. Though very tempting, a diesel is not a part of the equation (at this point). I continue to lean towards the CTT-S. I have located a fully-loaded 2009 CPO with 18,500 miles for $69K. Two years on the CPO warranty from date of purchase. It's had 2 owners already so I hope that's not indicative of something I'm not aware of.
Based on some online surfing I've done, the price seems to be a good deal. Still trying to get a handle though on whether some of the issues with plastic coolant pipe leaks, cam position sensors, torque converter seals, torn engine torque dampers, et al are common and/or have been corrected.
Again, greatly appreciate your thoughts!
