Was out of town. Shopping Costco and Tire Shop for price and availability on both the Latitudes and Conti's tomorrow. I've had great luck with both on various applications so I'll see what's what tomorrow.

Accelera Tires are cheap tires made in Indonesia. Why would you put a cheap tire on when it's such and important part?

I looked them up once - and I seem to recall China. Not that it matters, they aren't anything I'd put on my Cayenne.

I've been getting my last few sets on eBay. Right now I have 3 tires (295/35/21 dws 06) that have no repairs and tread depth of 8/32 that I have paid a total of 320 for. Just looking for one more to complete the set. I'm confident I can get the entire set for under 500!!! Much better than spending for new tires!!

Yeah I did that a few times on eBay when I was in a pinch or just needed one tire. What vendor are you using? Or just various?

Also anyone ever run Vredestein Ultrac SUV Sessanta? Don't think I've seen this mentioned in the thread either.

These were on my GTS when I bought it. Been driving on them for about 18 months, not a bad tire, but it's time to replace them, I've got about 18K out of them.

Go with the Conti Extreme Contact DWS. I just spent four days in snow and ice and all kinds of conditions and the Contis were great. 600 miles over a bunch of mountain passes in all kinds of conditions. Yesterday, we had a ton of ice and slush to navigate up a steep incline to get out of our neighborhood. No problems at all.

For the last two seasons, I previously had Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snows , so I wasn't expecting the Contis to perform even close. I was favorably surprised. They will be my winter tires from now on. I am going to run Michelin Super Sports the other three seasons.

Gonna be moving to Wisconsin soon. I bought the pig with summer's on there with plenty of tread left. With everyone's advice I thought I would get a winter setup on Blizzak's on 19's (CTTS so no 18's) so I did. However, reviews are starting to make me think I could have just gone to DWS's for winter and called it a day.

If you were me would you just:
1) Buy DWS's and use full year knowing excessive road use and spirited driving will limit their abilities in subsequent winters
2) keep the summer 21's/ winter 19's setup I've got or
3) dump the winter 19's and switch to 21 DWS and 21 summer (I actually have another set of factory 21's which is why this option isn't completely out of the question).

I am in a similar situation.

I live on Long Island in NY.

For summers I have the 21" Michelins and then for winters a separate set of 21" Pirelli Scorpions.

I have been considering going to the DW06 as an all season (and selling one set of rims and tires) but have not had a solid reference for real winter driving in my part of the world.

So as it turns out I do have direct advice for someone in your position in this climate. I'm actually in NYC currently and I sold my OEM GTS wheels to my friend who bought a cayenne at the same time. He put DWS 06 on them and has driven back and forth to CT many times this winter and does nothing but rave about them. Gotten great tread life so far too. My question in this climate is how useful will the DWS be in the snow next season when the s has worn off from 20k miles.
