Question Survey: how do you wash your Cayennes? By Hands or machine wash?

I am pretty new here and just got my 2013 CS.

Based upon the owner's manual: high pressure cleaners can damage many components, including radar sensors, rear view camera, Alternator, ParkAssist sensors and other electrical components, etc..... And the manual also says you need to unscrew the external antenna and make sure at least 20in away etc.....

All of those above make me think that the only way left to wash the Cayennes is "hand wash" only!

So how do you wash your beloved Cayennes?

Car wash with a 2003 CS, 2005 CTT, and 2009 CTT. Only have to remember to take out the rubber plug in the trailer hitch before washing. Never hand washed.

Seldom hand wash. If you pick the right place with all cloth you are good. I, too, remove the rubber plug in the hitch receiver and NEVER, NEVER let them use the brush on a long handle that sits in a bucket. This will scratch to no end. After semi-weekly washes my black and very well waxed Cayenne remains perfect!

Hand wash only.

Curious, why do you need to remove the hitch plug? Because it will get blasted out by the high pressure stuff?

Hand Wash.
In winter, keep the hose in the garage so it won't freeze.

I hand wash everything. No car wash ever seems to get them clean.

All 4 cars hand wash only. Have a Hot & Cold spigot outside by garage for wintertime washing. Yes, I know better than hit a cold windshield/car with hot water. I start with slightly warm spray and work up to comfortably warm. Have gloves for my hands while I'm washing.

In PA I would run through a "Magic Wand" type place a couple times each winter but just to remove salt & dirt from the undercarriage.

Same as above. Will wand to get off the big stuff and then hand wash the rest. Takes about 30-45 minutes and is a nice way to relieve stress. Nothing looks better than a clean black Porsche.

all of my cars get hand washed about once a week by a loacal detailer as I don't have a place (&time) to do it myself. used to go through car washes, but only with less expensive cars (skodas, vws ...).
he also does all his detailing magic from time to time, it always seems to me he's handing me keys to a new car after a two day detailing session ))

Good to have someone you can trust. However, one rule of thumb I have read on this Forum is "never, ever let anyone who makes less than you wash your car". It may not be the best piece of advice I have received but it is in the top ten.
