I hear ya, but it would be really hard to find a detailer that makes the same money )))))

Similar strategy here. If you are fortunate enough to have more than one or two cars, you've gotta set priorities. The P!G is huge and takes FOREVER to properly wash and dry. I keep a good wax/polish on all of our cars which helps mitigate the harshness of a commercial car wash, however, I only handwash the cars that might actually be worth something someday--M6 and Z1.

Barrier Porsche/ Audi has pretty good free auto car wash that I use a fair amount, especially in winter. I enjoy washing by hand in good weather.

Car wash. It's a used family car. Life is too short. Maybe if I had more than $20k invested I would hand wash.

Wash it myself at home or at the local coin op and granted, being in Dallas the weather is much more conducive to this behavior.

If I still lived in Iowa where I grew up it would probably get run through the local car wash at least a couple times during the winter months to get the major stuff off after a bad set of storms. Unless you have a heated garage with drain and plenty of room, doing it yourself in freezing temps with tons of road salt/sand grime is not that fun of a task.

hand washed it once... then decided the latin guys down the street for 7$ was a better idea.. they hand wash while you sit in the car... 6 guys working on the car for $7 is a bargain.. find a local hand wash station near you... usually they have really good products too. just stay away from the tire shine and the "protectant coating"

+1 - I have never put my 911 through a car wash. My wife's Cayenne does.

During the Spring, Summer and most of Fall I mostly hand wash my Pig. During the Winter I use a local Laser Touchless Carwash.

Hand wash for all my cars. But the 958 requires a ladder. (I am a short 5'6")
