Just add the diesel generator, and cut the price 10x! Since the batteries act as a "capacitor", 150hp series diesel engine can give you electric bursts of much higher power (500hp?), but since your average cruising speed uses perhaps 80hp, keeps the batteries toped up for long drives, and all the back-kicking acceleration bursts you would want! No-diffs/no-clutches/no-ABS 4 way torque vectoring should open up some interesting handling magic!
