Default Advice on 2009 Cayenne

I need some input on making a decision. I have a lease on a 2009 Cayenne S which is ending. I am WAY over on miles (I have put on 70K miles) and will probably have to pay around $7,500 in excess mileage fees if I just return it. For that reason I am considering buying the car at termination ($34,000).

I have had an excellent experience with this car and zero issues. Would I be making a big mistake in buying the car? I know I am paying well above market for it, but considering the excess mileage, it doesn't seem like that bad of an option.

The dealer is putting on the screws hard to get me into a 2010 Panamera with 21K miles but my monthly payments for that would be about $450/month higher, and that is with a much longer loan on the Panamera (7 years vs. 5). So I am not too keen on that deal.

My only concern is there could be a lurking mechanical issue with the Cayenne that could come back to bite me.

Any advice is appreciated.

Have them certify it, before you buy it out.

2009 cayenne s should run forever, only issues and they arent all that common are driveshafts and t-stat housings besides those the dfi cayennes are bullet proof. I know of a few withover 120k on them.

I am currently debatiing purchasing a used 2009 Cayenne S (36k miles). Do the 2009 models have the coolant pipe issues or were they addressed and now good to go from the factory?
Thanks.

Although the mileage is high... its not that easy to find a 2009 cayenne S for much less coin. I say keep the beast.

I believe the coolant pipe issue is for 2003 - 2006 V8s only.

Can anyone verify this? I have searched all over and still not found definitive proof.
Thanks.

I've only ever heard of two 957s having a coolant pipe leak. Compare that with literally countless 955s. There are no updated coolant pipes for the 957 either, because it hasn't been an issue.

Just trust the forums.. Anecdotally hardly any 08's fail. Very low failure rate.

My math tells me you would be paying $26,500 for the car (after the $7,500 excess mileage payment is deducted). That may be pretty attractive. Also depends on highway vs local miles and your maintenance record. I drive my cars for 10 years, with minimal cost.

I agree with your math as the OP can either buy this car for $34k or buy another car for $26.5k. I assume either of those amounts can be financed.

If it's been reliable and well maintained, I'd also skip the CPO and "self insure" since you know the maintenance history.
