Thanks J.

Jerry and any of you guys who picked your up in Leipzig, did you go through the Porsche travel assist and do they package the air and hotels etc all for you for that trip ?

While I realize everyones choices would be different, about what would you say the base part of the trip in air and hotels etc runs for a week plus stay, if you dont mind ranging that. Thanks as I have to add this in to her budget LOL LOL . I was guessing at $1500 or so each on air, $300 night, so $5,000 ish base to go for a week, then throw in the fun and goodies, and extra days. I might have to pull down some of our miles for some flight upgrades for this trip.

The dealer did say we could be over there and get it the first week or so in October , which is right inline with our window to go. But I havent talked past that point yet.

TR,I did not use Porsche in any way for my travel arrangements
I don't believe they provide any beyond the wonderful welcome at the customer center/factory/track/restaurant in Leipzig
I did look at the various itineraries taken by the Porsche travel club for additional ideas, noticing they stop in some very nice spots..look it up
http://www.porsche.com/usa/eventsand...velclub/tours/
For air travel, try booking flights on "Air Berlin",or try Kayak, you should get decent fares
Figure about 5K air r/t for 4 and about 3-500 per day hotels
One idea would be to do Leipzig-Berlin(a must)-Stuttgart-Baden.baden-Munich-Bodensee,then back up to Leipzig on a different route
Along the way, stop in towns with old medieval centers,Castles
Upon finalising your order, you have to let Porsche know how long you want to be driving in Europe for(in your case:no longer than the included 15 day period)
Then once your sales advisor hears back from and has a firm pick-up appointment at the factory, you can book your flight...
Your European vacation is not that far away...

Thank you for the encouragement , the ball park estimates, and the tips in both threads.

Our travel agent had priced some good Luthansa fares from Houston here too. As it has been some years since I had been in that part of Germany I was trying to get a feel for how much I was really looking at.

Thanks again.

It is time for something in this deal to work in my favor. LOL

If I can squeeze it down from the $20K difference now between the Cayenne and the MB diesel, to say $10K-ish then the Porsche and the trip is on. I am going to comb the option list some and then see what the dealer may do - or not.

If not ... well I feel like I am in enemy territory for a few years.

But there are a lot worse problems that I could have.

Like buying a Cayman, or a 1980's 911 with the "savings".

Get the MB and the Cayman. My '07 base on 17" wheels was the most satisfying and enjoyable daily driver I have owned/leased. The base's don't seem to suffer from the oiling issues either, maybe becasue they are on 17" wheels....
