Default Tires for the '05 turbo

I need to replace the tires on our '05 Turbo. Living in Santa Fe, NM, so snow a few months a year. Running stock wheels with the tire sensors (turned off). Currently running 255/55/18's. Looking for an all season tire. Any recommendations?
thanks.

Why all season? If I lived where you live I would get a summer performance tire...

Continental ExtremeContact DWS.

It's the best tire I've ever had on our Cayenne.

+2 on the ExtremeContact DWS (although I also have dedicated snows for winter use.. not that I needed them this past winter.)

I do the same thing. I drop from 20s down to 18s for winter. I use Michelin Latitude Alpin tires in the winter. They work very well.

Where I live, we can get snow 10 months of the year. Our only "safe" months are July and August. Real "summer only" tires didn't make sense for me. The DWS does great in light snow.

Thanks, I'll give the DWS a try.

I'll be taking my Cayenne in for a new set shortly. I only got about 35,000 miles out of this set, so we'll see if they actually come through and honor the 50,000 mile warranty by prorating my next set...

Strudel

You might think about getting another set of wheels and just keeping snow tires on your current set. That is what I do. I have 18 inch Michelin Alpins for winter and have 20" Yokahama Parada's on for summer.

I have a set of 19 inch wheels I would sell you if you are interested. They have worn out Pirelli's on them now. They are OEM painted spokes in titanium metallic. I am located in Albuquerque. PM me if interested.

I have used Continental's but they ride rough and are noisy.

The last set are Toyo's all seasons and they ride smoothly and are quiet...seem to wear evenly if air pressure is maintained 2 lbs. above the recommendation on the driver door sticker. Have the same tire with summer tread on my 928 S4 and they don't seem to wear at all.

I bought a second set of wheels last spring and that seems like the optimum plan for all year around driving here in northern Oregon.

I had some noise and wear issues with the Continental SportContact 4x4 tires that were originally installed on my Cayenne when it was new. I have not had that experience with the ExtremeContact DWS. In fact, I found the DWS to be quiet even when they were badly worn. I had a new set of DWS installed last week.
