Cayenne Turbo in Hockenheim
Hello!
I bought a german car magazine - sport auto 3/03 - last week and there was some interesting articles about Porsches;Boxster 2,7 test,Cayenne Turbo test and 5 pages about the new Carrera GT.All very fascinating, but the most interesting thing was comparable lap times from Hockenheim track short course, 2,6 kms.
Cayenne Turbo 1.20,3 min vs.
BMW X5 4.6iS 1.24,6 min.
Boxster 2,7 1.19,4 min vs.
Honda S2000 1.18,9 min.
For comparison there was also this duel:
BMW M3 1.16,3 min vs.
Audi S4 V8 1.18,1 min.
I guess Boxster owners are now a bit disppointed, but here's some relief.Nurburgring Nordschleife, 20,6 kms:
Boxster 2,7 8,36 min vs.
Honda S2000 8,39 min.

Fortunately AutoCarrera has one car for testdrive,I might visit them next week. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

and yup, you should definatelly try the SUV.
BTW, do you still have your M+S tires on, or are

Hey,
What's this? All Finns here suddenly?!
Just wanted to say hello to you guys from other side of the pond here, Terve!
Pete,
Were those times on the old track or the new?
I guess new which makes it more interesting if C can beat Boxster in new track (for me, hard to believe). On a old track (with those looong straights, would make more sense).

I'd guess that's the old track,or part of it,not the complete F1 circuit.I checked some old numbers of sport auto...it's the same than 1½ years ago.In that number was MB SL 500 vs Jag XKR duel.Their times: MB 1.19,7 min , Jag 1.19,3 min.
BTW,the best g-value Cayenne had was 1,05g in the Senke-turn.Quite impressive for a 2500 kg behemoth... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
And we've been here a while,although usually at 944Turbo&S or 924/944/951/968 Forums.

PS.Tommy,I just visited Sami and admired his new Baby.I'm going to switch tyres next weekend.

Hey Tommy & Pete,
Nice to hear things are going well with Porsche nuts back there home (I'm from Turku).
I think times are at old track (although I was pretty sure they destroyed the pavement on the old part) which would make more sense, I'm sure that big ol' TT Cayenne would pull hard on those long straigts. In corners, Boxster should be quite a bit faster.
I guess I've missed you guys since I 'hang' mostly at 993, 964 forums.
I heard snow is melting down fast back there, I know how exiting that is for a Porsche owner (I had 911 in Finland and that first spring drive after the winter... WOO HOO!!)

Yup, it's melting allright..
Though Pete and me, we drive our 951's year round <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
but of course it's not the same.
But we're getting some grip for rear tyres as
we speak.
I should get my new 18" this week, so we'll see.. <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
This summer our club is lookin' at least 3 track events, Alastaro, Ahvenisto & Kemora +
our Porsche slalom..

Well,
Then spring isn't as exiting as it would be if you didn't drive.
But still extra grip much be nice, although slippin' & slidin' during snow season must be fun also! It's that (*&%#*#! salt that they lay all over the place that's bad, right?!
It's nice to hear that you have nice track time going there next summer!
I love track, and I'm glad we here have awesome places (Homestead, Moroso, Sebring etc.) to go. I missed meeting JJ & Salo last weekend at Sebring (I was there, in Finland...) but I'll be there in few weeks time, will be my first time driving there.
One day, I want to come and try tracks there with my Porsche.

Thanks Tommy, I did and yes, if I have achance to come and see you guys, I'll give you a 'warning' first.
Still haven't join Porsche club Finland, but I'll do it sooner or later... (little backround: I spoke with the guy there and he said it would be interested to put some little stories about Porsche club's track & other stuff here in US and we agreed that I'll do that after I've joined)
"Sama paa, kesat, talvet..."
Oh, and we should say we're sorry for robbing this thread but since it's Pete's post, I guess we're all alright...
