Default WTB Cayenne S for towing

Guys,

Need a new tow vehicle and finally convinced my wife she should have her own Porsche. ( I just need an excuse to post on another forum)

Looking for an S with tow package. I have been watching the dealer CPO's in ATL for a while and just missed out on a low mileage 05 for mid-20's. I don't need anything new, just well maintained and reasonably priced. I like to pay cash and have about 30 to spend right now.

If you are thinking of trading yours in soon, send me an email or pm.

Thanks.

It's a turbo but you'd have to go to Chicago to fetch it but.....

Must be nice to have a wife who is willing to tow your car to and from the track!

Bill, I saw that one. No tow and a plane ride. It's a good deal for sure, but not quite that good.

Ah, sorry. I thought I remembered it having the tow pkg.

Checked our local dealer's inventory but nothing matches what you're looking for (a V6, a couple of 80k+ mi. cars) right now.

Good luck.

Good car for towing. I tow my 29 scarab all around. A tow hitch plus install will run about 1500 from an indy shop.

Had an s and towed just ad well as the gts

Mark, sounds like you and I are in a similar boat! we even have the same car that needs to be towed (1999 996 C2).

what will you be towing? open trailer, closed trailer, etc.

what's the towing capacity of a Cayenne S?

best I can figure, car + closed trailer + misc. tools, spare wheels/tires, etc will be ~5k lbs. will the S be enough or should a turbo be on the list?

S is plenty for towing. Turbo would be nice but I can't afford the tix my wife would get during the week.

Trailex open, 2800 lb car, tools, probably less than 4500 total.

My 2011 Cayenne S has towed my trailed enclosed trailer with our Cayman, tools and spare tires/wheels from San Antonio to parade last year and back with no problems at interstate speeds. roughly the weight of the trailer and contents was close to 5500 lbs. I could not ask for better performance from the Cayenne,

Blaine S tows a 24' enclosed Cargo Pro with a Cayenne S Hybrid and I believe he gets 14-15 mpg.

I wanted existing tow package already, but found an excellent 2006 Titanium Edition S in Atlanta with really low miles a year and a half ago, so we couldn't pass it up.

I added the factory tow instead of going aftermarket. It's expensive (it's definitely over-engineered), but just figure that expense into your equation especially if you find a CS you really want. No regrets.
