One of the most commonly asked question is how well does Spectra PhotoSync compare with other window tint products. So we decided to actually put Spectra PhotoSync to test against a 5% metallic limo tint. Now keep in mind, the shades we used for comparison is PhotoSync65, 55, and 45, so much lighter compared to limo tint at 5%. There is also one major difference - the limo tint has metals in it so it can produce some decent heat rejection that would be comparable to a lighter ceramic based tint:

For those not familiar with Spectra PhotoSync, it is a nano window film that will adjust its nano properties to perform better when exposed to direct solar radiation (sunlight). The result is the film's heat rejecting properties begin to change to block up to 98.5% of infrared rays. This video below shows this effect:

Another test we conducted recently. With Prestige Film Technologies' Spectra PhotoSync Nano Window Film. We decided to document this test to show how well this product performs compared to a leading 30% ceramic tint. The previous test was done compared to a ceramic 40%. Test specs:

Spectra PhotoSync 65% (yes, we are using a lighter film to compare with a darker 30% ceramic tint)
*product to the left

VS.

30% Ceramic (one of the more popular ceramic tint products on the market....sorry, we are not going to name the manufacturer of this product, but can say it is likely the most well-known on the market)
*product to the right

Conditions:

Outdoor Temperature: 75 degrees

Test Time: 2pm

Measurement Equipment: BTU Meter aimed directly at the window films to obtain simultaneous readings for accuracy

Test Subject: Raging Gray Bull named the Aventador

I had the Porsche insulated Windows on my Cayenne. That, full Ieather and 4 zone AC are my list of must have for the Cayenne. So when I replaced the Cayenne with an S8, without the insulated windows, I was not happy. I got the equivalent 3M product that is basically clear. However, there are two downsides. The first is that the Porsche option also provides sound insulation. The second is that the Porsche option provides insulation for the front window. In NY state, you need to get a doctors note to authorize the installation on the front Window. Without the front Window done, the insulation properties are somewhat diminished.

the sound insulation is great, but what I've noticed on my test drive of a Panamera w/ it is that it was too quiet. I actually like hearing the exhaust note and with the windows up, it was almost too subdued. My 2c

Premier... I have a darkish factory tint on the passenger windows back.. the windshield and front windows seems lightly tinted. How dark can we get away with in california? It would be nice to have the front windows closer to the rest of the car.

Most of our clients are going with the lighter shades for very obvious reasons. First, it is no longer necessary to go dark to get exceptional heat rejection. 2nd, with chp out on full force with any revenue generating tickets, it is to everyone's benefit to stay light.

Now to answer your question, so far, majority our customers choose to go with 75% on the windshield and 55% or 65% on the sides. Even for customers dipping to 45%, we have not seen any issues yet, but the 75 windshield / 65 sides rule would be at minimal risk.

Several pms came in from Texas. This company carries Spectra PhotoSync

www.evsmotors.com

If you are not California, check with the manufacturer for authorized dealers in your area. There is only 2-3 installers per state.

We recently conducted a test to see how hot the Tesla Model S gets in the rear. There is a general consensus among Tesla owners regarding too much heat build up. For the rear hatch of the Tesla Model S, there is an option for rear facing seats for children. Owners of the Model S have been complaining and executives at Tesla even know of this issue. With that said, we decided to conduct a test to measure the ambient air temperature of the rear hatch. Tesla's rear hatch glass is a laminated glass that has a metallic coating to it to reject some heat; however, even this is not enough from our findings.

Though this is not a 991, we believe it is necessary to show the efficacy of every product we carry at Premier. Below is our test:

Test Subjects - 2 Tesla Model S
Tesla 1 - factory laminated OEM Glass with metallic coating
Tesla 2 - Spectra PhotoSync 45 installed to the side glasses + rear hatch

30 Minute Test in the Rear Hatch with both vehicles side by side
Duration: 30 Minutes
Time of Test: 3:35 pm
Exterior Temperature: 88 degrees
Purpose: Compare air temperatures inside hatch between vehicle with no window film and the other with Spectra PhotoSync installed

Here are the two test mules:

Test Vehicle 1 - No Film
Start off at 84 degrees

In just 3 minutes the temperature rose to 92 degrees

Close to 7 minutes, the air temperature rises to 105 degrees

At the 15 minute marker, temperature is at an unbearable 123 degrees

26 Minutes - Temperature now reads 136 degrees

At the end of the 30 minute test, it is a scalding 140 degrees, which is the reason why leaving children in a vehicle can be a fatal mistake.

Test Vehicle 2 with Spectra PhotoSync 45 installed to the side and rear hatch.

Test starts at 85 degrees

At the 15 minute marker, it is 96 degrees compared to Vehicle 1 at 123 degrees.

At the completion of the test at 31 Minutes, the Tesla Model S with Sepctra PhotoSync is at 104 degrees compared to 140 degrees in the other Tesla. This is a 36 degree differential!

Another Panamera completed. This one went with Spectra PhotoSync 55 on the front two windows and 35 on the rears. Customer liked the product so much, he is scheduled to come back two weeks later for Spectra PhotoSync 75 on the windshield for maximum heat rejection.

I got the Premier Spectra PhotoSync installed on my car, 75% front windshield, 55% driver/passenger and 35% in the passenger rear and rear windows. Love the look, and it does really help with the heat. I no longer feel the sun burning my face and arms when driving. Even the sun heat from the front windshield has also been diminished. Price is a tad higher than your average tint but its well worth the price. Got good customer service and they took good care of me and my car. 2010 Panny 4S. I would have gotten the 55's on the drivers side and passenger, but don't want to get hassled by cops.

If/when my wife gets her Cayman, Premier will get the job to tint that car as well.
