Well, it wasn't even worth two cents. Please read the full thread before responding next time.

Talking

Well, the Porsche purists who don't think the Cayenne should be produced might get upset.

Ordered the Cayenne today, and I consider myself a true "purist" and a Porsche "purist " to boot. I've owned enough to know. Porsche has attempted SUVs before, see Autoweek or the December issue of Panorama.

It's getting a little tedious reading comments from individuals who think they have a "lock" on Porsche strategy. I do, however, acknowledge their right to continue to make them. But they have no right to claim the high ground.

Consider the following:

Porsche has always been about "managing the laws of physics" to improve performance, and I think their efforts with the Cayenne are entirely consistent with the above.

I can't drive a "sports car" everyday (wish I could) so I'm quite prepared to let Porsche try and provide an alternative solution. The bar is pretty high with both the new RR; and the G500 which is fantastic in the current N.California inclement weather.

It's Christmas time so give "peace' a chance, actually I mean "Porsche".

Cool

I guess Colm didn't get it. What I meant was they would get upset if we started an Audi or Range Rover section!

I think I got it, I've been following this tread pretty closely and trying to stay on point.

I didn't use the word "upset' I used the word "tedious".

I look forward to the Cayenne, I think the RR is great, and since I just bought my wife an X 51, after taking her to the Porsche Driving experience, I've been relegated to driving her G500 which is solid and comforting, especially when the wind is howling and the rain pouring.

I'm dying to know how the Cayenne will stack up to the above.

The perfectionist in me wants to have the best possible solution, but I know I have to go through the mental challenge of deciding which compromises are most acceptable to me.

I've ordered the Cayenne Turbo, and will go to the LA auto show in January to see it in the flesh. If it disappoints then I can be very content driving the new RR.
