I just asked my wife last night why we thought we needed a third row seat, with one child, none more planned. She said that I was the one that said we needed a third row seat, and that she just wanted a bigger car (her 81 928 auto is being parted out - long story - great car though). She explained that it would be fine to have an SUV that was higher than a normal car, but not so big as to be a bus. She said that she wanted to be one of those "Cool soccer moms" that all the kids wanted to ride with (She's from england - soccer mom doesn't really have a neg. connotation).

Planting the seeds men, planting the seeds.

So how is that used Cayenne market shaping up?

I want to trade in the Jeep for a Cayenne but my wife thinks I need to get something with a third row so that all the kids can fit in both vehicles when necessary!!! SOOOOOO am considering the Vlovo BUT it has little tow capacity which I need and I aint gettin no 'burban!! bSo it would be nice to have the third row in the Cayenne.....

FWIW dealer/press chatter has it there will probably be a 3-row edition of the Touareg in calendar 2005. No way to know how they are going to change the LOA, might do it right or wrong.

The current editions of these cars barely have enough rear seat or cargo space as is (thank the windshield rake, low roofline), there is virtually no opportunity to rearrange the furniture for more passengers.

Whenever it is (not soon), you can pretty much count on the next Cayenne to be larger in every dimension, just like the new Range Rover versus the old. Because just like politicians trying to get re-elected, the first design priority for the next one will be for the sales that go to the competition on the first try--small size bound to be the number one reason.

Come to think of it, new GMC with the cool grill 45k, bigger wheels, lower suspension - 5k, Supercharger 6k, thats 56k. Anybody seen any good used Cayenne S deals?

For $56k you ought to be able to buy a brand new 955S. I've seen them going for around $53k here.

Range Rover sport has a 5+2 system. And the cayenne is not meant to go off road.

Notice Range Rovers do not have a 3rd row option either. Mudman is correct that if yuo want a 3rd row, you should probably stick with the Volvo or Honda Pilot/Acura MDX type vehicles.

WHOA? DID you seriously just sign up to resurrect a thread from 13 years ago?!??

And when this thread was relevant, 2003-2010 cayennes (955/957) WERE meant to go offroad and were damn good at it. They could seriously give RR a run for their money without the fear of the truck breaking before getting home (worked at LR for 3 years)
