Porsche NA and their delaers
Some of you may recall my prior experiences with a lemon 2003 Cayenne which Porsche "gracefully" was willing to replace as long as I accepted an '04 with about $1,000 less in options and ponied up $2,000 cash which I reluctantly agreed to do after many weeks of frustration with the '03. At the time of that transaction I agreed to sign a hastily presented hold harmless agreement as long as their was no clause that caused me to remain silent. I received a call from the dealer yesterday asking me to sign a copy of the original as they could not find the original. When I showed up today to sign the copy it was a new agreement including a silence clause and specifying legal action if it is violated. Needless to say the agreement was not signed and Porsche will not silence me. They ought to fire some of their lawyers and hire people and regional representatives that understand customer service!! I now am sorry that I didn't utilize the lemon law and stuff that lemon down their throats and ensure that it carried the proper mark on its title to protect the next purcahser/victim . . . <img border="0" alt="[soapbox]" title="" src="graemlins/soapbox.gif" />

No I was never provided with one but the dealer owner and I scanned it before I signed it specifically looking for a keep quiet clause and neither of us saw one or I would not have signed it.

I've had a fair share of problems with my 2004 S, although nothing as severe as Stirs. I really think that Porsche's atrocious attitude towards customer service is going to create a serious crisis within the company over the next year or two. The sooner Porsche accepts that Cayenne buyers are more demanding than their current customer base, the better it is for them... and ultimately for their customers.

I already have my new '04 and what Porsche is trying to do is silence me or threaten me through the threat of litigation <img border="0" alt="[icon501]" title="" src="graemlins/icon501.gif" /> The issue is that I was forced to pay two grand in order for them to exchange the lemon. I did so but made clear that I would make known to all what type of "customer service" Porsche has. Now they don't like the publicity so they had the dealer subersively try to get me to sign another agreement binding my silence claiming the first one was lost. That will never happen . . . they may have my two grand but I will cost them that amount over many times in negative goodwill. I love my new Cayenne and my 911 C4 but hate the company behind the badge. Thanks for your support guys . .

Stirs, my experience, and I gather that of others here, is that the Company in Germany really does care. Go straight to the top - don't bother with PCNA. They need to know in Stuttgart that their reputation is being tarnished by their distributors.
I've just dropped my Cab off for a service with a very good independent shop and had a fascinating chat with them about the Porsche GB 'attitude'. We have exactly the same problem that you guys seem to have in the US.
Maybe it's 'Importers Disease'. To be fair, running a national import operation with a dealer network is a huge job, and not an easy one. However the UK setup fails the enthusiast at every turn. There is no 'enthusiasm' present in the showrooms - instead there's a blatant 'money rules and we don't think you've got enough' attitude. The servicing and parts supply means that I'm more likely to use an independent shop with a good reputation 350 miles away than consider going near an OPC.
Cut a long story short, the reason that such a huge percentage of Porsches, however old, are still on the road is because of us - the ones not wearing armani shirts and suits - instead passionate about the cars, the company and in time and money spending a damn site more on Porsche than any slick salesman will ever do. We are the ones that reflect the attitude that goes into the creation of the cars we love - not the salesmen or so-called 'Porsche-Centres'. Thinking about it I can't remember the last time I met a salesman who I would even think of giving the description of 'enthusiast' too.
Write to Stuttgart and express your disatisfaction - We and the Company deserve a whole lot better.... (rant over - apologies)

I know a guy that is a manager for Audi sales. Beforethat he was a porsche sales man. He showed me the hoops that one needs to become a Porsche "Certified" salesman. Its actually alot of work and time off the salesfloor. I maybe wrong but I think he told me that they have to get re-certified every 6 months after the first time. If these guys are learning so much about their products and customer service. How come most dont know a thing about their product and treat people like crap? WHat are they learning in these classes anyways?

Actually, "certification" is pretty minimal. For better or worse, many in sales take the path of least resistance - and while an enthusiast will generally pay more for quality goods and services, the non enthusiast sale is usually so much easier - thus the focus away from enthusiasts. Combine this "natural" tendency w/PCNA's current marketing department's aversion to all things motorsport (cost money, you know), and you get the result - sorry to say.
There are some very good, top shelf folks in the Porsche world - but they are counterbalanced by many who are not.
Christian S. is right - this needs to go to PAG @ Zuffenhausen or Ludwigsburg - post haste.

Maybe you should print a copy of all the postings so far here and send it to them. It would be an eye opening experience for them to see how PCNA treats all of us here. I have posted my personal dissatisfaction with PCNA, they are useless and downright rude. They even had the nerve to question me if I'm a "Porsche customer" as with two 993's I do not seem to qualify as one.

My experience in life is that the nature of an organization is driven from the top. When I hear that Porsche Great Britain has the same attitude as PCNA (ie lousy), my conclusion is that the arrogant tone must be set in Germany. PCNA is a direct extension of Stuttgart, I'd be very surprised if an appeal to Germany would do anything. If it does, I for one would love to hear about it. Good luck.
