If you're towing, you should get the air suspension anyway.

BTW - what did you expect in terms of advice here? RL is a sure fire way to make this a $100k Diesel.

Agreed!
What am i trying to achieve? Strike a balance, but I know we all prioritize certain **** above others. I'm soliciting ideas. That said I'd love to order ceramic brakes and not have to worry as much about brake dust

PS I don't have any big towing ideas.

I have air suspension on a tdi Touareg and it's awesome. I second the recommendation to add that.

air suspension = very nice for ride quality
backup camera = useless unless you tow....however, very handy if you do tow (I can't believe how easy it is now to line up my hitch with the trailer the FIRST time without leaving the driver's seat)

I hear you. I was toying with the Cayenne Diesel and Turbo car configurators on the Porsche website and it's a dangerous thing. To get what I have on my GTS now, the Diesel would have been $85k and the turbo $135k. I'd rather buy another race car for that .

High gloss exterior package is less than $200 and I've found that the silver window trim on my wagon has tarnished badly - I'll give this a whirl.
Espresso interior... that thought ups the build price on mine, although I am thinking that you are probably right on the wheels.

don't want to ruin anyones day, but what's with all the hype around the cayenne diesel? I know they have not been around until recently in the US, but they've been around here for quite some time, I've had my share of diesel cars and I definitely don't want to go back to diesel again.
only diesel I would consider again for an SUV is the 4.2 V8 with ECU reflash. the V6 is not strong enough for a cayenne IMO.

It would make for a better tow vehicle than the V8s plus you don't have to hit the gas station very 200 miles when towing. Just sayin'...

yep, torque + range for towing, that's the appeal.

for daily driving around town, Cayenne S or turbo is the way to go IMO.

Well here is my story;

I'm looking to replace my 10 year old BMW 5 wagon. I like wagons.
There are now just two (mid-size) wagons for sale in the US, E350 & E63 AMG.
That's it, BMW & Audi don't offer a wagon anymore.
The E350 is a bit staid & the AMG maybe over the top.

We’ve an LR3 for family duties, my wife’s car, and my Carrera for driving. This Cayenne will be my DD.

I've never been a fan of the SUV form factor but two things are good about the design;
  • elevated (ergonomic) entry position.
  • reduced transmission tunnel intrusion enabling the rear bench to be better utilized for three persons abreast - I’ve three kids.
Yeah I know there are negatives, increased roll and decreased efficiency.
Porsche address's the ride and handling pretty well by virtue of it's engineering and the diesel addresses the efficiency issue.

And I’ve been wanting to check off a Euro delivery for some time and it’s now free.
Lastly Porsche Exclusive allows some pretty cool customization, ever in the Pepper. Tell me what vehicle can be bought for under $60k that allows you to choose the stitching color on your steering wheel?

is that plate real? if so how'd you score that?

also what about the CTS wagon? a bit bigger than an A4/3 series (I think)

The allroad is coming back next year... but yeah the mid sized options are looking slim.

the 958 cayenne surely doesnt drive like any SUV i've ever been in... i'd compare it more to a station wagon than an SUV by driving standpoints...

i cant tell you how many times people got in my cayenne and said "damn, this thing actually does drive like a sports car versus an SUV"

i think the cayenne will make a perfect car for you, but i feel that the panamera/991 upgrades in the 958 will have you ordering a PTS maritime blue 991 sooner than you think.

The Cayenne diesel is a V6 ... therefore, the resale value is, well, priceless.

Absolutely, the similarities are obvious.

Is wood grain going to be offered as part of the Exclusive Programme?
Forget paint to sample, THIS is the next big thing.
