Some advice on tires
I need some new tires for my base 06. Looking at the following options as my picks. I live in Chicago so I need the all season. I want to keep the handling and a longer tread life.
Anyone have any of these? Experience? Or have any other suggestions?
Continental CrossContact LX20 with EcoPlus Technology
Dunlop SP Sport Signature (H&V)
Yokohama AVID ENVigor (H&V)

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS is the best tire I've ever had on our Cayenne. It's an ultra high-performance all-season tire. It offers reasonable treadlife. It performs very well on dry streets, on wet streets and in light snow (as the "DWS" moniker implies).

+1...they aren't as good as Michelin's Diamaris in the dry and braking distances in the dry are a little longer than a true performance tire, but IMHO you can't beat the DWS as a great all-season and all around tire....reasonably good treadlife, too.

I haven't tried the Diamaris. My Cayenne was equipped from the factory with Continental SportContact tires. In my opinion, they didn't handle much (if any) better than the ExtremeContact DWS on dry pavement. On wet pavement, the DWS is better. On snow, there's no comparison, the SportContact wasn't made for snow. I do run Michelins for my winter tires, and I've been very pleased with them.

The Diamaris were OE on X5's with 20-inch wheels and some early Cayennes. They really are excellent in the dry, OK in the wet and completely useless in the snow (very soft rubber compound which turns into a useless slick on snow or ice). When I changed to the DWS, I almost ran into the car stopped in front of me because of the increased braking length on my first stop. I've since gotten used to it and not had a problem at will them since.

Forget all season tires in Chicago. They will not get you home safely. We have used Pirelli Scorpions winter tire and the Bridgstone Dueler HP All season for the rest of the year. There is no substitute for winter tires on a Cayenne. Don't even think about it!

I also use Continental DWS and love them, but I use them on my car, the tread pattern doesn't really seem like it would be aggressive enough for an SUV and they are definitely not great in the snow...

+1 for Tedster.
Snow tires for the winter.
If you saw the ice and snow I drove through on Tuesday... other cars driving extremely slow, 4 ways on, several in the ditches, and me driving along safe, snug and rather faster than everyone else.

"There is no substitute for winter tires on a Cayenne. Don't even think about it!" In So California they are fine for our needs. Today the temp is 81 at the beach..... snow tires not required just sun glasses.....
