Is it that the indented steering wheels come with vehicles that don't have the extended leather, as my dealer told me that the airbag on mine is leather rather than vinyl.

In '04, the spare tire is 1-800-767-7243 (1-800-PORSCHE).

Porsche installed a big-ish woofer enclosure in the rear where the spare typically resides. Let me know if you find the spare.

The option is to risk it or order the exterior spare carrier at an installed cost of about $7k.

I have the spare in my 04 also.

btw - Tmoeller - I went from an M3 -> Jeep GC -> Cayenne. I couldn't stand the lethargic feel of the Jeep, but I needed the utility space and toe hitch, so the Cayenne was the logical choice. I still miss that 6 speed on the back roads though

Maybe I'm thinking of the '03.

I have a woofer enclosure and spare in my '05.

Just had a look a a couple more Cayennes and am now convinced that the dimple topped steering wheel is fitted to vehicles without the extended leather interior.
