Indefinite Delay on My White S Order

Indefinite Delay on My White S Order
I ordered a white S Hybrid--I know, I know--a month ago. Particularly wanted white rather than sand white color so agreed to wait until the factory begins producing that color which was scheduled for Nov 4, 2011. (The white color is closer to the carrera (refrigerator) white color of other Porsches and a good bit less yellow than sand white.) Today the salesman called to say that my order was on indefinite hold because of an indefinite delay in Volkswagen producing the white bodies. He suggested changing to sand white which is available immediately. Comments, suggestions?

It is somewhat ironic that VW is delaying the bodies in white, and the P!g will never be part of the Exclusive program "paint to sample" which requires a body in white.

he told me that to be honest ordering "white" would be a february/march delivery at soonest (this was back in june instead of a september delivery)... i love the non metallic white but just couldn't justify the unsure dates ad extended wait.
if you must have it, the answer is clear... the "sand white" is attractive in some light but not so much when dirty or in dim light (especially parking garages!)
goodluck w/ the decision.

my dealer told me november 4th as well as release date for the new "white" but he also said that in the past when they offered new colors (think about the blue offered on the 911 turbo S) that they are rarely ready at that suggested date and even people placing orders after that date cannot even choose the new color...

I ordered a 2012 CTT in Sand White early 8/2011. The dealer says they don't even have an allocation yet for the vehicle but no worries because Sand White is not available until Nov 2011. Dealer states some colors are not available because the paint comes from Japan and there is a delay related to the Tsunami / earthquake.

Not sure of the big difference between Porsche and VW paint but my daily driver 2004 S in Bright Silver still looks great. No fading and still has a great shine. No worse than my GT3 which is garaged most of the time. Just stay away from brush type car washes!

Cayennes and Touaregs: Leipzeig, not Exclusive Programme eligible, no paint to sample.

I imagine the processes, equipment, and paint are similar and I see no difference in quality between the finish on my Carrera S and Cayenne S. Sure, there's no paint to sample but that's only important if you feel the need to give Porsche an extra $4-5K to substitute for a perfectly good standard paint job. Meh.
