Default 2012 cs radar detector hardwire need a switched circuit

Ok need some help. Trying to do a clean install for my escort radar detector and can not find a switched circuit. I have tried several on the right side of the dash but no luck. Everything seems to be a direct source. Anyone have any advice. Thanks in advance.

On the assumption that the 2011 Cayenne fuse layout is the same as the 2012 here's what I used. Position 18 in the right hand fuse panel was a vacant switched circuit. As you can see there was no fuse and it's shown as vacant in the manual (page 289 for 2011). I inserted a spare fuse with a piggyback fuse tap and was good to go. Good luck.

Thanks Mike. I will try that tomorrow. I am using an add a circuit. So hopefully I can just plug it in and go. Appreciate your help.

And yes 12 is the same as 11.

Thanks Mike. Today, I used exact same setup to connect V1 to my '12 CS. Worked perfect and quick. 15 minutes.

I plugged into the cig lighter under the glove compartment area, and ran the hard wire under the A pillar
and under front molding, so the wires are hidden and detector is to the right of the rear view mirror.

I don't understand. You mean you found and tapped the wire feeding the cig lighter under the glove compartment area? My lighter is in the center console. Also in my 2011 the cig lighter is on all the time; it's not a switched circuit. FWIW, my detector is also right of the mirror and the wire is hidden under the edge of the headliner and down and behind the A pillar to the fuse box.

Mike,

I will post photos later today. The specific area where my second front cig lighter is located is below the glove compartment toward the firewall. If you sit in the passenger side and put your feet toward the firewall and raise your left foot, it is in that area. It is a switched circuit that times out with the interior lights.

Clearly going into the fuse box can be a better solution. I just did not know about that solution when I first purchased the CS last year, and found this to be good working alternative. I still haven't gotten to installing the remote display. If I do, will go from the fuse box and keep it as a separate circuit.

^^ Those 2 outlets aren't technically cig. lighters, they're 12v accessory outlets but they'll still work. They're essentially the same as the outlet in the rear cargo compartment.

Correct, I meant accessory that is the cig lighter type outlet. Thx for clarification.

Here are the photos.

I use that cigarette lighter plug under glove compartment for my dashcam. It's switched, but NOT by ignition. It will stay on for a few minutes after ignition is turned off, but it WILL turn off.

luvair,

I'll be damned. Didn't even know the accessory outlet was there. If nothing else, I learned something from your post.
