Headlight Level Adjustment

Headlight Level Adjustment
i just had my 2005 Cayenne S at the dealer because the headlight adjustment light came on. I was told that I need new front and rear level sensors at $695. Does this seem right? I can't believe that a couple of sensors would cost that much.
Also has anyone DIY the sensors?
Thanks

Easy enough to price the sensors from an on-line dealer (or sponsoring dealer - hint!).. on BMW's these cost about $60/each. Can't imagine Porsche being much more (BMW isn't a piker on parts prices..)
As far as changing them, if it's like other euro cars, the hardest part is getting it up in the air on a lift. A few bolts, one plug and they're changed. Having both fail at the same time sounds suspicious - might be time for you to invest in a Durametric so you can find out how much your dealer lies to you..

dealers replace in whole at your expense.....just like brakes, they do all 4 pads and rotors EVERY time because it just would not be safe or while we are in there, might as well........

Durametric will be of no help in reprogramming the lights for "level" once the sensors are replaced. Not surprised at the estimated cost of the sensors either. Programming the control units on each side is no small feat. Unless you own a PIWIS box, this is a dealer only capability.
