I drove one before I bought my CS. They are quite fast. However, the build quality and the interior are not good compared to the Cayenne, and they probably won't wear well. Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles are still poorly built and I don't think I will ever buy one.

I'd get a CTT like Pops suggested.

Dennis, thanks for your input......

I have seen the interior of a loaded 2011 Grand Cherokee and I was pleasently surprised.....

The only reason I would consider a 2012 model is because the interior has been redesigned and appears to have a "european" look and quality (possibly because of the Fiat partnership).....

They are not out yet, but they look promising.....

Of course, a CTT is the gold standard for other SUVs to compare to, no questions there.......

My neighbor has a new Cherokee Overland and I think its a nice rig. Seems pretty luxurious inside. It's based on the Mercedes ML underpinnings, no? Can't be that bad compared to the old one if that's the case. They did away with the center exhaust so it ought to be capable of having a regular tow bar capable of some serious towing to go with that motor.

Still no replacement for my 553 lb/ft of torque and 25 mpg freeway capability. Not even the new CTT can match that. But the new SRT8 Cherokee is impressive none the less.

You are correct in all accounts......

I know it is not a porsche, but it will make a nice sporty tow vehicle at half the cost of a CTT.....

You may want to check on towing capability. The Gen-1 SRT-8 wasn't set up for towing AFAIK.

Yeah, i was going to get one for wife - till may. All reports on quality have been positive for the 2012. Isn't out yet so it remains to be seen. Was introduced at NY show in April. However, they don't produce it in white, o we may pass. If it came in white, for sure purchase at half the price of a CT.

You are correct about the previous years.

The 2012s will have 5000 lbs towing capability, plenty for my race car and open trailex.......

Not sure if Dodge deserves all of the bashing. I have a 05 Durango with a Hemi as my airport and bad area truck. Weeks go by and it always starts up on the first crank and it doesn't leak a drop of oil even at 98,000 miles. Very reliable and it looks and drives good. Not to say I would use it as a primary vehicle, currently is #4 in my small stable, but it is a very good vehicle and I would buy Dodge again.

The last Dodge I owned was a 1999 Durango with a 5.9L V8. It had countless quality problems. It was the last Dodge I'll own. Perhaps their quality controls have improved since 1999.

Interestingly, I found this story this morning:

Chrysler Workers in Michigan Reportedly Caught Smoking, Drinking During Lunch Breaks

Published July 14, 2011
FoxNews.com

Workers at a Chrysler plant in Michigan have reportedly been caught on video smoking and drinking during lunch breaks.

Just ten months after revealing how some workers at the Chrysler Jefferson North Plant in Detroit spent their lunch hour drinking beer, another investigation by MyFoxDetroit.com found more of the same at Chrysler's Trenton Engine Plant in Trenton, Mich.

At least two workers told the station's investigative reporter they do not want to work with people who have been abusing drugs or alcohol prior to returning to work.

"It's dangerous," one employee reportedly said.

The latest video shows workers roughly a mile from the plant, but just steps away from a United Auto Workers hall.

In a statement to MyFoxDetroit.com, Chrysler said the conduct captured on tape was "unacceptable" and the workers would be suspended indefinitely without pay once they are identified.

"I just want to say I am both hurt and angered over what your cameras captured," said Scott Garberding, senior vice president of manufacturing.

"Again, we have Chrysler workers in a compromised position, without regard for the impact of their actions, the reputation of their coworkers, the plant, of the company, not to mention their own reputation and that of their families. As a company, in the last two years we've come too far and made way too much progress to let the bad actions of a few put a shadow on the rest of the employees," Garberding said.
