Seems straightforward enough to me.
When the car is cold, it starts normally. When the car is hot, the starter carries on spinning for a while after the engine has started.
Not one of the many pleasures of Cayenne ownership which I have encountered; but maybe someone else has.
Can't think straight without it!

this happened to one of my mustangs and it was initially the starter relay, i changed it out but it would happen again a few months later, come to find out i had a kill switch put in and that was main problem. i would start with relay.

Never had the pleasure of replacing or even working on a Cayenne starter but have done many, many starters on American cars. Sometimes if the shimming is off the flywheel will "grab" the starter bendix and not release it right away. Being a hot start issue would make this more likely. However this was usually if the starter had been replaced before and not aligned correctly when reinstalled. Has this starter been out before?

Does it stay engaged after the engine starts, or does it just seem like it's sorta long to you?
The Cayenne has a half-*** starter setup where it auto-cranks until it thinks the engine has started. When mine was balky starting, the engine wouldn't reach normal idle RPM very quickly, and the starter stayed engaged while the engine was running at 300-400RPM.
