Anyone Have a Cargo Partition Net?
Part 955 551 691 03 3W4
It looks like a retractable mesh net that attaches to the rear seat backs and the hardpoints in the headliner. Will it fit an '11? I'm thinking of this instead of my crate for Mr. Dog. I have a 36"x24"x26" crate on a foam wedge strapped to the tie down in the floor (have to use the wedge because the seats don't fold flat) and with the weight of the dog it moves around a little too much.
Or, has anybody come up with a better way of securing a dog crate? TIA

I have one in my Cayenne and we use it whenever the dogs are in the back. It works great.

I have a crate that fits very precisely into the rear; absolutely no wiggle room. However, she also prefers the back seat...

I have one and just took a trip to Florida with the family and 3 schnauzers. Worked great for the dogs. Couple of doggie beds to line the back and they were happy as clams for all 1100 miles

How does the net work when the seats are lowered?
The description for the cargo net partition states that the cassette installs on the rear seat backrest. The pull out net attaches to the roof lining and it can also be used when the rear seats are folded.
Can you explain how this works? If the cassette stays attached to the backrest when the seats are lowered then does the net extend even further to maintain a barrier?

Burning Brakes
2 small dogs in medium sized crates, secured by web straps to seat belt loops. Over 3500 km, never a spilled dog. Happily sniffing their way across Canada with nary a care.
Cargo net won't hold back a dog, only the cargo bars.
In an accident, the weight of the dogs will likely over stress a net.

The simple answer is, no.
The cassette attaches to the cargo area, above the cargo cover. The cargo cover attaches to the back of the seats. With the seats down the net would still only cover the top half, so it wouldn't work as a barrier for dogs.
Although you can use both at the same time, if you have a large dog, the cargo cover sticks out into the cargo area and reduces the useable space a bit. Since I have 2 large dogs, I remove the cargo cover when they are in the back.
Also, when you use the net, you can also still use the alarm, as the net prevents them from triggering the motion sensor.
