Thank you for looking-
05 Cayenne Turbo-
Other day I get in the truck.. -when I press the SAT button says- "SAT not Available"..
hmm- thats odd
So radio seems to work on AM/FM and CD as well as Nav..
Next day- Nav turns on by itself- then all functions stop- though the screen reads as if Radio is playing- however no sound.
Error shows- "CD not functioning, Satellite not functioning, Navigation not functioning, Amplifier not functioning"
I have disconnected the Battery and even put a new on in the truck- everything seems ok for 5 minutes- then first the SAT Radio fails, followed by the rest- ending up with the radio operating with no sound.
ANY IDEAS? ..(not including taking it to the dealer)
After much online forum searching- it seems that is fairly common for the Amplifier to fail -a small $1,020 replacement cost.
Alot of talk about 'system Fiber Optic cables and connections.'
My guess is since all started with the SAT failure- it might be the sat unit.
Or the amplifier failed....?
Which goes first the Chicken or the Egg? -ie the SAT or the AMP?
Thank you for your thoughts.

Head unit would be my first guess, based on your description.
MOST devices are in a serial/ring configuration, so lose one and you eventually lose them all.
If it was the amplifier's known S/W bug, you wouldn't get an error code, just no audio...
Unfortunately, a dealer/PIWIS is probably going to be needed to go any further...unless you have a shovel and want to dig up Larry.

OK- so thats some information- 'when the amp goes- no error codes show, just no sound.'
So- I suppose a failure in the SAT module would break the loop for the system and throw codes for everything down line.
I hope?
Thanks for the tidbit!

The amplifier will sometimes fail to produce audio ... Everything else works fine.
Shutting the car off and letting the MOST ring go to 'sleep' will normally fix it on the next power on cycle.
(I will skip the bring details about DSP SPI boot loading, yadayadayada....that was Larry's department).
The simplest (re: cheapest way to test which MOST module might be acting up) would be to use a MOST optical bypass cable one module at a time.
Apart from that, PIWIS interrogation will determine the cause as well.

Thank you Lewis.
Is 'MOST' and acronym for something?
Also- I mentioned- if I Disconnect the Battery, when I power up- all functions fine- FOR about 2minutes.
The first fault is 'SAT Error' and the satellite radio is not accessible.
Within 5 minutes more- error of CD, NAV, and AMPLIFIER all follow and sound stops.
The screen reads as if the radio is on, and what FM station is on ect- but no sound at all.

No, no, don't thank me in public...that will only stir up the members of the P!g Pen and you'll likely be flogged or stoned.![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Yes, MOST...

Again, I would bypass the sat module first and see what happens.
Contact RL sponsor Eric at Bumperplugs and see if he can provide you a MOST bypass jumper (Plastic Optical Fiber jumper).

alot of removal to even diagnose I would guess.
waiting to hear back from a friend of mine at the dealer...will let you know if its anything of note.

PIWIS is the easiest and quickest...
But, if you don't have PIWIS, the bypass jumper is easy to try... You just need access to the module, which isn't too bad if you're determined...
MOST is a bitch

Well-.......dealer trip scheduled =( ..for lack of a better idea.
Tech says- 'a low battery output' ..which i had 'can lead to some of the units loosing their coding -and sometimes just an upload of re-programing can fix all the issues.......or not.'
so- I can do is hope its a simple glitch- and not failure of components.
Will post results.
Thanks again.
