Puke - The real stuff
Hi all,
A friend of mine with a new Cayenne S just had one of his daughter gack all over the backseat. Said the smell is just horrible. Any suggestions on getting the smell out? They had their winter mats in so that caught a lot. Thanks.
Chris

We had this happen years ago when I bought a new 1999 Dodge Durango (big mistake, btw). My then 4 year old son puked in the back seat as we drove it off the lot.
I recommend professional detailing. It's not cheap, but they have the tools and the chemicals necessary to do the job right.

Dennis C probably has the right idea for professional help, but if your friend wants to do it himself, have him google "getting out puke smell". I was going to post a link but there are so many he may want to choose the one that sounds best to him.

It was awful too. It looked like cottage cheese, but smelled far worse. It actually had a few whole gummy bears in it... I remember thinking: "doesn't this kid chew?". It went into the speaker grilles... into the carpet... all over the seats...
It cost me $150 and after it came back from the detailer, you'd never know that it happened.
Professionals can do amazing things. My wife had a bottle of red wine burst in the back of the Cayenne a couple of years ago, and the detailer removed every trace... every smell... perfect.

I remember a young Divot driving home a friend that had too much to eat and drink and did the same on the front floor mat of my '72 Impala. I took him home, and I left open the door for his dog to "clean up" the roast beef, lasagna, ham, etc., that was on the floor mat.
The dog ate every last bit, and hated me from that day forward.

Do you really think so?
I've heard of some kids upchucking right into the map pockets on the backside of the front seats. How do you suppose all that gets cleaned out of there without residue left to stink up the car in the searing summer heat?

Just had to deal with it last night. Stomach flu, couch cushions. Ech. Get a garden pump sprayer. Mix 25% Simple Green and water in it. Spray liberally, then vacuum it right back out with a shop vac (don't forget to remove the filter). Don't be afraid to soak it because you are sucking it right back out. Don't scrub. Spray, suck...spray, suck.....Works like a charm.
