The bypass pipes DO ehnance the tone of your exhaust. They also supposedly DO provide some extra power. I got them primarily for the sound.

When talking to my dealer, the service manager noted they would be happy to install the after-market part. I don't blame them, they are after all charging $140 per hour. They are not going through any trouble or incurring any expense.

I think you misunderstood my post. Maybe I didn't present it very well. Fabspeed says removing the secondary catalytic converters and replacing them with bypass pipes "will not affect the warranty or emissions in any way since they are just 2ndary catalytic converters which are unnecessary". Why did Porsche (the factory, not your dealer) go to the trouble and expense of designing and installing secondary cats on the car in the first place if they serve no function and are "unnecessary"?

According to your post, your dealer says that removing the cats and installing the bypass pipes would "void certain parts of your emissions warranty”. Fabspeed says that your warranty won't be affected in any way. There's an obvious contradiction here. So who's telling the truth, your dealer or Fabspeed?

Mike in CA, I obviously misunderstood your post. I think the secondary cats improve emissions, so there is a purpose to installing them. I doubt Porsche (or any German auto manufacturer for that matter) would do anything without a predetermined purpose.
On the discrepancy in claims regarding warranty - they are clearly contradictory and hence my post. Maybe people who have already gone that route through the dealer could shed more light.

I don't have an answer but FWIW I just had the same ones put on and I would say I noticed a significant increase in power off the line more than a sound improvement. It is however a little throatier.

Thx jrams31 - I was really hoping that the sound improvement will be more significant than "a little throatier". I guess I'll find out pretty soon.

I installed sec cat bypass pipes on my 05 ctt and both sound and I think performance improved. My explanation given to me for sec cats was that they serve very little emission fxn but are more to quiet down the overall exhaust note. The aggressiveness of the stock system on the cayenne with these pipes are worth it. That being said I have a new 11 cayenne s on order and did spend the ridiculous money for their sport exhaust. I wonder how much more the cat pipes would add to that system?

Nice, enjoy it and let me know if you ever need anything else. We have a great exhaust system and ECU upgrade for it also, which will make an additional HP increase and more sound.
Thanks,

I installed them last night by myself in about 3 hours. Not too bad! I had to use several wobbly extension combinations to get to the top nuts. It sounds great!

Thats correct kosmo, no worries about CE lights or anything like that. Just a straight forward install with noticeable results that you can feel and hear. I have them in stock and ready to ship.

PM me if you have any questions and for special member pricing.
Thanks,
