That seals the deal. I shall go braless

FWIW I've used the 3M film now on several cars, including carmon, black, white, silver, and grey and have no yellowing. I had the dealer cover the front bumper, hood, mirrors, and door edges on the porcine truck and the latest generation of this stuff is nearly invisible. Beats a respray in my book...

I know there are driving environments where using film is almost mandatory. Still, and no offense, I just can't get the analogy of grandma covering her sofa in plastic out of my mind. No film I've ever seen looks as good as a quality Porsche factory paint job; in fact if I got factory paint that had the look of film I'd be pretty disappointed. So why cover my car in film so the next owner can enjoy the pristine finish?

I'd no doubt feel differently if I had to drive where they use gravel on the roads in winter like w00tPORSCHE does, and if I pick up a big ding tomorrow I'll feel like I challenged the rock chip god. But despite the fact that probably few people are more **** about how their cars look than I am, I just can't get behind plasticizing my car. My unsolicited $.02.

Mike, you are absolutely right. Nothing matches the Porsche paint. But the only way I can enjoy my car throughout all seasons is by plasticising it. If I show you how the roads look here early Nov through March you'll plasticize yourself (and your belongings ). The first week when I drove my 997.2 naked (meaning the car) without plastic), in 30 miles that I did (that too city driving) there were 3 rock chips. Trust me even YOU being so **** will be impressed how optically clear my clear-bra looks (agreed there will be atleast a 5 to 10% distortion of paint clarity). I wish I can take some pics to show what I am trying to tell you. Here is my minivan that had a clear-bra (ya I'm that ****). Picture taken years after .. can you see the clarity I'm talking about. It's all about how you maintain it.

w00t, I understand completely. My sister lives in north eastern Washington and I've visited in winter. If I were in your situation, I'd be doing the exactly the same thing. Hope you're holding up ok until Sunday.
