Hello to everyone!
Hello I am new to this forum and today I am picking up my first Porsche. I am getting a 04 Cayenne S that has 60,000 on it. I was able to get some service history on it from the local Porsche dealer. What kinds of things should I look for that are common problems with this year. I'm excited to pick it up tonight. I've been driving my BMW for the past 2 years and looking forward to this change!

I can't bear to watch ...
Welcome to Rennlist and the Cayenne forum (a.k.a. The P!g Pen)
There is a thread "stuck" at the top of the forum regarding service issues.
I would also get comfortable using the Search function ... Else you might get a visit from MadFox and Larry's squirrels.
Practice pronouncing the following words ... You will probably start saying them in your sleep....
Coils
Coolant tubes
Cardan shaft
Welcome aboard.

Dont listen to anybody. Cayenne is a great first Porsche. It will teach you to appreciate a well handling SUV. Many of the issues might have already been addressed in 60K miles. Most of them, once rectified, do not come back. 04 CayenneS got my wife hooked on Porsches, and she is not a "cargirl". What everyone should warn you about is a lifelong addiction you are about to inherit. Enjoy your first Porsche, you will never forget it....
...and your wallet too.

Thanks for everybodies input so far. I picked it up a few hours ago and love it. It is very different that my BMW which I love to drive. Some of the issues that are common from what I have found have here in the forum already been fixed. Actually the dealer who I purchased it from just had the coil problem fixed at the local Porshce dealer yesterday.

I've had my 04 Cayenne since new. I LOVE IT! It now has 114,000 miles, and over half are towing a race car in a enclosed Featherlite trailer! Of course my coolant tubes and coils were replace, but while still under warranty. Only the cardan shaft happened after the warranty expired, at 72K miles. It still runs perfect.
I've had my Beta in the Dumont Dunes to the cheers of sand dwellers, unhooked my trailer on the way back from Laguna Seca and tore-up the dunes at Pismo Beach. I've taken it into the Sierras fly fishing on roads that would scare a Jeep.
I don't know why you guys bad mouth these things. You enjoy your Beta Cardfelon!
