Default Tinted windows or Not

Everyone,

I have a 2004 Black Porsche Cayenne S, and I'm debating whether to tint my front and back windows to a greater degree or stay with the originals...

If you can, post your pictures of your Cayenne with its tinted or not tinted windows...

AND VOTE!

Tint the fronts for sure. The rear windows on a Cayenne are 37%. If you have the fronts tinted, 35% will match perfectly. I think it looks f$cking fantastic tinted. At 35% you won't have problems with the police - it's really not that dark. Most suvs/minivans for example are 20-25% in the rear which is substantially darker than the p!g.

Default I vote no

Tinting the front side window has it's downsides in my opinion.

Much harder to see out of at night.
Scratches easily, then looks like *** and creates glare.
Attracts attention from the police for sure.
Law enforcment takes a dim view of not being able to see the drivers actions, why risk antagonizing them? Just to look cool?
I think it's important that other drivers can see you also, I like to make sure others at an intersection know what my intentions are and nothing does that better than making direct eye contact which is often not possible with tinted front sides.

Why give the police a reason to pull you over.

Even a light tint can reduce the heat and wear on the interior.

Don't have to go dark enough to make it hard to see or to attract the police.

Have you ever seen what happens to the leather in the 928 cars after years in the sun?

Even if you don't want tint I would do the lightest tint available. They reduce UV and heat dramatically. Keeps the interior of the car nicer longer.

+1 much better inside. Also I would repeat that 35% is pretty light - you can see right through it. Also legal in most states or with medical reason in all states (50% tint is legal in all states).

Fwiw here is mine. I don't know the exact percentage but the front tint is pretty light. very easy to see through all the time. Makes a huge difference on heat. The interior is black which makes the tint look darker than it is.

Now.

Why would you not want to do something that will keep it nicer over the long term?

They have tints so light that you can hardly tell the glass is tinted, yet they reduce heat and UV. Very similar to the heat reduction windshields offed for the Cayennes.

Nothing says you have to have ghetto dark windows when you tint.
